lol i work at a place (i should say this is not s mom and pop shop) that charges up the ass for phone repair and i get paid a base of $13…. i also only get $5 in commission per phone regardless of how much it costs

I just transferred a I phone 8 to a new I phone 11 pro max .. new out of the box .. but I get dropped calls non stop & service gets no connection on the road any where unless u walk in a place that has internet

My display conveniently went out 5 months after the warranty expired.

This could be a use case for their repair kit rental, where the display cable may have just become disconnected and doesn’t actually need replacing.

Apple’s in-store repair would have just replaced my display whether it needed to or not.

I might order a battery for another iphone I have to make use of the 7 day rental.

We need a Framework phone. I'm prepared to lose features to have something I can repair myself.

I know this is anecdotal, but I’ve had a broken screen once with my iPhone and my mom broke her’s several times. Whenever we would go to the Apple Store for it, they would just outright replace the phone for free. So I really can’t complain about the service

I'm convinced that Apple only does anything to get more money. Self repair? Still Apple money. Macbook that has a problem with sleep sensor? Planned obsolescence and still Apple money. Apple starting to potentially remove inginuine part messages? Convinces people to buy iPhone and still Apple money.

The reason they dont give you a parts tray is the screws are to be discarded and replaced with new ones that come with the parts. Screws should never be re-used for an Apple device as they can strip really easily.

can someone enlighten me if any other phone company is offering self-repair kits even? i never heard Samsung do it, did they? cause i see Apple take a lot of heat on this, but really other company policies arent that different. you usually either fix it at some shady small shop for cheap, or you use online guides and parts from amazon or ebay.

As someone who had to fix apple's phone "fixed" by those kiosks I don't blame apple. Stores/Apple don't do over-the-phone quotes because people have brought in a shattered screen and back screaming they were quoted X amount over the phone.

Apple is becoming more and more like the government, they care more about profits than the people they serve.

Nice video as always. I fix iPhones for living and to use those tools to replace LCD no way. I can do 20 iPhones my way. I takes me 10 minutes to do it. I am one step ahead of Apple.

Actually, there's no lifetime limit for parts repair, you even can replace the battery every month. But, let's say you sent it to Apple or Apple Authorised, they will replace your previous unit with a new unit or refurbished one only under the problem part price. By the way, you can only order one part (which has a serial number) for fraud prevention and you need to return it or otherwise, Apple will charge you for the total price. 

Special note: Avoid doing multiple repairs, if you accidentally swapped the parts on the not original phone and there is a problem raised which required a visit to Apple Genius or Authorised Service Provider; your device will consider an authorised modification and cause repair rejection or Full Repair Price.
