$30 for a media app is steep, BUT
it'll save me from getting the larger version of Quest3, as my local wifi streaming stutters with big files

How's the audio while watching a movie using Quest 3?

So is it pointless getting this if you’ve not got a PC? Looks complicated

I tried the quest 3 just for movies. I wish it was good, but it's just not there yet, If you enjoy quality, the quest 3 won't satisfy you. I found myself frustrated by how close it was to being perfect. I ended up returning it. definitely interested in VR movies but I'll wait for apple to release a more affordable vision pro, that way all my apps can be in the one place and works nicely.

How can this work if there is ZERO Wifi / Internet access. Like on an Airplane.

Problem I'm having with my quest 3 is while watching movies and eating spaghetti O's and cheese doodles with mayonaise I tend to want to wipe my face and eyes and because my quest 3 was white it's now covered with crusty stains all over and the quest 3 didnt come with anything to clean it other then that small cloth so I may box my quest 3 and return it until they come out with a proper cleaning to remove the stuck hair folicles and fecal matter on my device

I imagine all that in a lonely world

when you re playing the movie from PC, does it support subtitles for those who don't understand english language?

Thanks but.. can't bite the hand the feeds us. Its not selling like they had hopped. See VR going crazy as of late? Yeah its not.. oh there are some saying things like CYBERPUNK 2.0 is far better in VR! yeah things like that.

Truth its not the best its good but not the best, No WAY is the quest 3 worth $500! $200 more then the last one.

I agree that higher resolution VR headsets like Quest 3, and especially Bigscreen Beyond are excellent for movies. There are 2 issues that need to be resolved. 1. The sound. Unless you can easily wear your high end ANC headphones with your VR headset, you will not be able to get fully immersed. 2. Availability of content. I counted the number of 3D movies available for rental on Bigscreen, and the number I got was 17. So, unless I was missing some menu that shows more titles, there is hardly any content. Yes, I am able to rip my own movies, put it on a media server, etc. My issue with this is that I am a working engineer. I do not want to do engineering when I am not working. Well, hopefully we will get more titles in the future, otherwise, movies in VR, not matter how great, is just a curiosity.

Does experience make your brain think you are watching a big screen. Also does it require nearsighted or farsighted vision to watch movies this way?

I just watched a movie in the Quest 3 on an airplane and it was amazing. Even better using the Skybox app. Yes, I know I must have looked like a geek from the outside.

Question. I plan to use this primarily for movies and I don’t have a pc (just an iPad). Is it worth it? Can you use it without a pc?

the biggest issue is, if you don't have any power expansion or charging cable hooked to a power bank, you can barely watch a full length movie before the Quest 3 shuts down.

I’m hoping once apple rolls out their headset, streaming services will allow better VR experiences. As it stands right now though i wouldn’t waste my money on it for watching movies.

I think it is too big and not that useful if we can not connect it to our consoles 😅💔

Here’s a little tip. If you want to use netflix or crunchyroll on big screen but it only shows a black screen, switch your browser to firefox. easiest fix

I prefer my OLED TV because the contrast and black levels on the Quest 3 are so much worse. I wish they had used an OLED panel or mini-LED panel like the Quest Pro

I love Skybox for movie viewing and big screen for my friends and family to meet up even though we're in different states.

I love how in the apartment environment, if you look out the window, the cars are moving, and the lights are flickering. Impressive detail!

What was you vr face cover ?

My Q2 has major issues with fast-moving, motion scenes. It is just disaster, to be honest. I wonder if Q3 is the same, or did they increase this quality in new headset? Thanks

Wait... Doesn't the screen turn black when you watch Netflix when you stream is from pc to quest?

Great video. I was able to fix the issue with the black screen when using Bigscreen to watch Netflix by streaming from Firefox instead of Chrome or Edge. It could be a Quest 3 bug effecting other video steaming platforms. I had to do the same thing with my cable provider streaming service. I'm confident they'll get it fixed in future updates.

Aside from streaming via browser, these all depend on me having movies in an MP4 format. How do I get MP4 files if I've got Blue-ray or DVDs?

I can't see myself wearing this huge headset in public like on a train, bus or airplane.
XReal Air or Viture one perform this task but don't make you look like a total freak :)

30 years ago we were not allowed to sit close to the television screen, which was bad for the eyes. Now they project directly onto your retina! crazy shit
