My candle flame burns bright for initial 2 hours , but the flame becomes very low for next 2 hrs, and again picks up to burn beautifully till the very last burn. How can i resolve this issue, plz advise
ОтветитьWould you consider a candle a fail if there’s soot build up on the sides as well as some soot in the wax? Currently having this issue with every wick test I’m doing.
ОтветитьYou just agreed to the same thing I always said about test burn more than 4hours. I always go 5hours because customers don’t burn at four hours or trim wicks as they should.
ОтветитьDo you recommend testing candles in the actual vessels you plan on eventually selling your candles in or it doesn’t matter?
ОтветитьThank you for your video. How do you fix a wick that is wrong ? : The one that gets drowned in wax and snuffs out
ОтветитьWhen you test burn to wick fit a new vessel, do you test with or without FO?
ОтветитьThanks for this quick tutorial. My daughter is getting into candle making and she gifted me one of her creations using a wood wick. I'm glad to see the test you had using one because when I lit the candle for the first time, after trimming it down to about 1/4" the flame shot up to about 2". I've since visited the vendor she purchased her supplies through and there was a post where someone suggested the normal flame height was 1.5" - 2" high. In a tin used to illustrate the post, that flame height appeared to be disproportionate, and in my opinion unsafe, to the vessel. I am glad to see your test showed what I consider to be a safe flame height.
ОтветитьMy vessels that size get over 140 if I wick that high and test for 4 hours. There's a lot of conflicting information on safety testing. Anyone know what the standards actually are?
ОтветитьHow do you know which wick to use? Trial and error? I buy from Lone Star and I'm not sure what I'm doing lol
ОтветитьThanks I’m litterly in the middle of making my first candle so in the morning when the candle is fully solid I’ll test it
ОтветитьWhat is the diameter of your jelly jar with the medium size woodwick?
ОтветитьSo it's not necessarily a bad thing when the candle burns at the top of jar and causes soot?
ОтветитьIam begginer and I have to waste a lot of money in test phase. Is there any tip not to check and test.
ОтветитьThank you for your videos they're very informative. I've started making candles and I'm finding the wick process to be quite hard. But I'm using soy wax 464, I've tried different sizes jars 7oz, 8oz, and 16oz, using CD- wicks ranging from CD-8 to CD-14 and I keep having the same issue the wick has the mushroom fold problem and sometimes it kind of sparks when I light it for the first time.
I'm using 6% fragrance oil. But I'm guessing I just need to try the ECO wick. Do you have any recommendations? I've also used dyes all my supplies are from nature's garden.
Hey so question since u got that black soot u would since down on the wick?
ОтветитьHello, I m so confused about it, I see so much soot in one ☝🏽
ОтветитьI had a bit of a chuckle when the stick entered the frame and started poking at the wick. I wasn’t expecting that.
ОтветитьHello can you help me out I did my first candle everything looks fine but is that normal after 5 hours the flame higher and I see sometimes smoke but my glass is not smoke. I know normally you shouldn’t live candle for 5 hours but I want to see how say my glass is
ОтветитьHi! Thank you so much for doing these tests for us. It's sooo helpful! You mentioned that part of what you test is how hot the glass gets. How hot is too hot? And how do you measure how hot it gets?
ОтветитьHey do I have to wait till candle cures to test wicks?
ОтветитьIve been testing my vessels and only filling the wax half way up the vessel , but all my wicks end up falling over and blowing out in about the 2nd hour. Why? Is it because the wick isn’t stuck to the bottom? I’m trying not to waste so much wax , but feel like if I filled the vessels all the way and started burning maybe the wicks wouldn’t blow out?
Ответитьi have one question my wife started a candle business and on the first batch she made by using cotton wick and it has lots of smoke on the jar, do you why or it's better to use wood wicks than cotton? thanks for the videos they are very useful and i learned a lot
ОтветитьIf you are wick testing only not scent how long do you let the candle set after pouring? 24hrs? Haven’t seen this answered anywhere thank you
ОтветитьThank you, this was super helpful!
ОтветитьHi, I'm wanting to start making tea light candles. How do you measure the burn for something so small?
Ответитьhow long do you cure candles before burn test?
ОтветитьMy husband uses these plans from Woodprix and is very happy with them. However. I love yours!
ОтветитьHow should the melt pool look in an hour
ОтветитьWhat is your Snapchat name?
ОтветитьWhy can't I get a full melt pool and I'm using a soy kit?
ОтветитьWhat size jar do u have? And you prefer wooden wick for the 6006?? Not the other wicks?
ОтветитьOkay so I’ve made my first ever candle, but I want to know if I start selling candles, what are the instructions about the burn that I should be sending along?
ОтветитьHow comes when i do my burn test when i blow it out the wax around the wick is all lumpy and horrible looking im using the 464 soy wax and my wicks are defo the wrong size just ordered some smaller ones you think thats got anything to do with it using eco 12 amd eco 14 wicks
ОтветитьHello. Sometimes I have issues with my wooden wic floating before it’s time for the candle to be done. I use a glue gun to glue them.
ОтветитьWhat ECO wicks work best for a 12 canning jar
ОтветитьAny thoughts on burn tests for candle tins? Obviously I can see the melt pool but it’ll be hard to see how much it’s burned
ОтветитьThis was EXTREMELY helpful. Wastes less wax, and your points are well made. Thanks...
ОтветитьHi Standley ive got a question. Ive made a batch of candles and the circular melt pool doesnt reach the edges. What can i do to fix it? i was thinking I could remelt them and change the wick and then pour the wax back in and let them cure again. They are already fregranced btw. What do you suggest?
ОтветитьHi, I just found this video in perfect timing i bought wooden wick from candle science in size small for a 8oz tin. What size wick would you suggest i use medium or small I'm not sure because the tins does get hot. Any suggestions on wicks i should use
ОтветитьI just started making candles and I'm conducting burn test now. I have a wick that has preformed the best so set it up with a full jar and a half jar. The full jar worked perfectly 4 hours and just over a fourth of an inch deep and full melt pool. The half jar is just over 1/2 inches deep and the flame is dancing alot. I'm using a 4 inch tall 3 inch wide jar. What are my next steps. I feel like the jar is too hot in the half jar. Love your videos! Thanks
ОтветитьJeff are these test candles fragrance free to test wicks or so you have to retest new wicks with every different fragrance as it would have a different result? Also I know in this video you started with the candle half way down so should you only pour wax to half way to test wicks?
ОтветитьSome of my customers have complained about the soot, thoughts on how to limit the soot? Thinking about downsizing. I use ECO wicks and I'm wondering if it's the wicks I chose?
ОтветитьHow much time is it ok to let a candle cure after pouring before making the test for wick dimensions?
ОтветитьWhat wax works best with wood wicks? Is there a wax that wood wicks should not be used with?
ОтветитьWhere do you go to get a diverse selection of jars? Seems like a lot of people have the same jars/containers.
ОтветитьThank you for this video!!
ОтветитьTHANK YOU for sharing your precious time, talent, knowledge, and skills with us all, so we may learn! GREAT info & help 4 my "newbie" self! 😉 Hugs 2U!
ОтветитьThis is so great for beginers,i am curious, can you tell me wht my soy wax (444) after burning,it gets a dark brown color? I would apreciate your reply, thank you very much !
ОтветитьWhat kind of wick should I use if I am using a 6oz jar. Btw, thx for this video
ОтветитьIs the black soot on the jars normal? I've tested two and have had it on mine. I'm thinking about trying the wood wicks. I love the crackle but I'm also scared to try them because I've seen so many people have problems with them staying lit. I'm a beginner so I'm trying to do my research and my head is about to explode. lol 🤯
