My candle flame burns bright for initial 2 hours , but the flame becomes very low for next 2 hrs, and again picks up to burn beautifully till the very last burn. How can i resolve this issue, plz advise

Would you consider a candle a fail if there’s soot build up on the sides as well as some soot in the wax? Currently having this issue with every wick test I’m doing.

You just agreed to the same thing I always said about test burn more than 4hours. I always go 5hours because customers don’t burn at four hours or trim wicks as they should.

Do you recommend testing candles in the actual vessels you plan on eventually selling your candles in or it doesn’t matter?

Thank you for your video. How do you fix a wick that is wrong ? : The one that gets drowned in wax and snuffs out

When you test burn to wick fit a new vessel, do you test with or without FO?

Thanks for this quick tutorial. My daughter is getting into candle making and she gifted me one of her creations using a wood wick. I'm glad to see the test you had using one because when I lit the candle for the first time, after trimming it down to about 1/4" the flame shot up to about 2". I've since visited the vendor she purchased her supplies through and there was a post where someone suggested the normal flame height was 1.5" - 2" high. In a tin used to illustrate the post, that flame height appeared to be disproportionate, and in my opinion unsafe, to the vessel. I am glad to see your test showed what I consider to be a safe flame height.

My vessels that size get over 140 if I wick that high and test for 4 hours. There's a lot of conflicting information on safety testing. Anyone know what the standards actually are?

Thank you for your videos they're very informative. I've started making candles and I'm finding the wick process to be quite hard. But I'm using soy wax 464, I've tried different sizes jars 7oz, 8oz, and 16oz, using CD- wicks ranging from CD-8 to CD-14 and I keep having the same issue the wick has the mushroom fold problem and sometimes it kind of sparks when I light it for the first time.

I'm using 6% fragrance oil. But I'm guessing I just need to try the ECO wick. Do you have any recommendations? I've also used dyes all my supplies are from nature's garden.

Hi! Thank you so much for doing these tests for us. It's sooo helpful! You mentioned that part of what you test is how hot the glass gets. How hot is too hot? And how do you measure how hot it gets?

Ive been testing my vessels and only filling the wax half way up the vessel , but all my wicks end up falling over and blowing out in about the 2nd hour. Why? Is it because the wick isn’t stuck to the bottom? I’m trying not to waste so much wax , but feel like if I filled the vessels all the way and started burning maybe the wicks wouldn’t blow out?

I just started making candles and I'm conducting burn test now. I have a wick that has preformed the best so set it up with a full jar and a half jar. The full jar worked perfectly 4 hours and just over a fourth of an inch deep and full melt pool. The half jar is just over 1/2 inches deep and the flame is dancing alot. I'm using a 4 inch tall 3 inch wide jar. What are my next steps. I feel like the jar is too hot in the half jar. Love your videos! Thanks

Jeff are these test candles fragrance free to test wicks or so you have to retest new wicks with every different fragrance as it would have a different result? Also I know in this video you started with the candle half way down so should you only pour wax to half way to test wicks?

Is the black soot on the jars normal? I've tested two and have had it on mine. I'm thinking about trying the wood wicks. I love the crackle but I'm also scared to try them because I've seen so many people have problems with them staying lit. I'm a beginner so I'm trying to do my research and my head is about to explode. lol 🤯
