This was my experience attending a timeshare meeting at the Hilton Grand Vacation in Las Vegas. It actually wasn't as bad or as scary as I first thought. If I had to describe the experience I would split it up into five crucial stages; sign in, presentation, meeting, supervisor, and collecting your gift. Overall the experience was just a big conference meeting for one of the days during your stay and it honestly, at least to me, didn't take up that much time. So personally, in my opinion, I would take advantage of these timeshares stay offers to get reduced hotel costs and free gifts; such as, hotel points.

My friends went to a timeshare meeting and they looked shabby (they are!). The presenter took one look at them and just gave them their "free" airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S.

Timeshare are legalized fraud. They are completely worthless and a scam. Plus maintenance fees for life. Who in their right mind would think it a good deal. Plus going to the presentations enables these scams to exist. I wouldn’t give any these shady people my personal information like credit card or SS number. Who knows what they will do. Just book a AirBnb or a vacation package on Expedia is cheaper.

Why would you want to waste your vacation with scummy sales people for some free ticket or whatever they are offering. Timeshares should be illegal period!

Went to one in Palm Springs long time ago. It was summer (105 degrees) and they offered us a 2 night stay at an Embassy Suites. When we got to the time share presentation, the A/C was "Broken" how convenient. The salesman instantly pulled out a picture of his wife and newborn. "Trying to create a sense of urgency on his behalf" We sat there dying for 90 minutes. When it was over we said we weren't interested. It wasn't a good plan for us and our budget and we could get Hilton points a lot easier through our credit card. The guy was floored. Got up and left angry as F&%K. Had to go through 2 other guys to make sure we were signed off, never eligible for their paid trips again Boo-Hoo! . Never, ever went to one again!!!

You attended Hilton Grand Vacation Club (HGVC). Hilton timeshare salesmen are usually very professional and respectable. If you attend the WorldMark / Wyndham / or some Mexico Resort Timeshare, it can get a lot nastier. Marriott / HGVC / Disney Timeshare Presentation are professional and respectful people. Not to mention, their resorts are actually pretty good too.

We brought a baby and a toddler to the timeshare presentation, safe to say, the crying and the noise alone devastated a lot of the agents there. We were in and out quick.

This video is very misleading. It's an opinion from a person who never bought a timeshare and only has the intention of taking advantage of a situation. Hilton is certainly NOT a scam. I know many people who are happy with their timeshare and find it to be very useful and valuable for their family.

You would be shocked at the number of people that buy the vacation package for $150 thinking its not timeshare related. Also please realize these companies actually terminate the sales people that are not hitting very very aggressive sales goals its way worse than car dealerships... cutthroat

I think it all comes down to how it may work for you and your family. Were apart of a time share, that partner with their own travel agency. We have had great privilege to use other timeshare properties or basic hotels through the same company. And it has legitimate saved us thousands of dollars a year vs direct booking. People need to research, and talk with the timeshare people read everything and only do what makes sense for you.

Hi, thanks for this informative video. I have a quick question. The representative mentioned that if you lose your job before your arrival, they may cancel your reservation or charge you the full nightly rate. Could you clarify the process? At any point, were you asked to provide any confidential information, such as your employment details, or were they required to run your credit or verify your employment status?

Additionally, did they stick to the promised 2-hour time frame, or did they try to keep you longer? How did you handle that situation?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Years ago we received a letter saying we won either $5,000, a big screen TV, or a food processor. All we had to do was go to a presentation. It wasn't far from where we lived, so we figured it would be a nice Sunday drive and we'd get at least a food processor.
The salesman gave us a tour and then we sat down to talk about buying in. We determined that we could only afford the "Swing" season, basically too cold for swimming and too warm for skiing.
Then we said we couldn't afford the down payment of 10%. That's when the salesman got his manager, who said for so many 10% payments they get the bank would allow a 5% payment, and that could be put on a credit card. Lucky us, they would allow us to make a 5% payment. I said it sounds good, give me the paperwork and I'll run it by my attorney. Naturally, that got the manager more aggressive, saying we'll lose some special perks if we don't sign today.
After going round and round, I said we're not interested, let us have our food processor and we'll be on our way. The "food processor" turned out to be a small glass jar with a crank thing on top to put the food in. We were at least expecting something electric. The salesman had to drive us back to the reception area which was about 1/4 mile away for the whole trip he said nothing.

Why would someone go to a presentation of anything for leftovers if not intended to buy anything? Is Like losers thing. At least for solar panels, cars or water filters you are not on vacation. How bad are people planning their vacations that they have time to do this? And if someone wants to buy it let it be. Everything in America is a scam at the end of the day. I rather a scam that takes me to a nice resort in Hawaii than an student lowan for 200k to make 60k a year and have to end doing a timeshare presentation for 100 bucks.
