Not even required in this game. You can just hold d and let go of d and it will stop you the same as he explained it. It might help with side to side movement afterwards though.

which one is better? to hold your D key (to right strafe) and then hold A then shoot, or to press D, let go the D and shoot?

you can hold d and then hold a as well to stop. They both cancel out either way.

In cs counter strafing is essential but in valorant there isn't much if any movement slide so I find there's pretty much no real benefit to counter strafing

Holding the movement key to counterstrafe is probably mostly used by former csgo players

valorant counter strafing works well in the higher elos, its mostly situational like longrange battles or jiggling corners. just dont overdo it. its a 1 frame difference vs not counter strafing but 1 frame can be the reason u lost

But as soon as you stand still, you can shoot, right? But where's the difference to just peek and shoot. Like I don't understand how you are able to dodge the opponents bullets. Do you have to strafe left and right all the time? Don't you have to move your Crosshair from one side to the other all the time ? Someone explain this pls..

Honestly surprised this is apparently a widespread misconception

in Val counter strafing sometimes it's not even necessary, most of the time as soon as you let go of your strafing key you'll stop. Compare that to CS for example, in CS your character will keep moving so you're required to counter strafe to make your shots accurate.

It's soo useless for some reason. I always get tapped when I counter-strafe. Even when someone is crouch spraying they still tap me. No matter what I do, I get tapped.

Just saying, you absolutely don't need to know how to counter strafe to reach high elo. The difference between a counter strafe and just letting go of a/d is pretty negligible. You're better off working on aim and positioning.

the only reason Counter Strafing is so talked about in the Valorant community is because a lot of the pro/high level players came from CSGO and counter strafing on CSGO is an absolute must have mechanic to know, versus on Valorant it's really not needed. People just use it in Valorant because they're so used to doing it that it's a habit. Same thing with crouch peeking.

Unless you're using a laptop keyboard or a wooting keyboard... you're going to have IRL lag because of how cherry style mechanical switches work. Counter-strafing will always be a necessity unless one of the above two options is being used(stopping sooner than your opponents wins duels...also need to factor in the fact that nobody counter-strafes W/S while using a typical mechanical keyboard, but the aforementioned two options don't have to worry. Counter-strafing also lets you have better control when abusing some of the game's movement mechanics in tandem with bursting.

it's because in CS there is something called velocity, the longer u move in a direction a higher velocity i will get until it reachs its peak, however if you let go of your keys (WASD) the velocity will Gradually stop, so if u shoot before it reach 0 your shot will be inacurate that's why you have to press the opposite key so that your velocity will drop quicker. But in valorant there is no such thing called velocity so you can just press D let go of the key and your shot will still be accurate
