Scotts are quite rare bikes. Between 1930-39, only about 1,350 bikes were made, but in 1929, almost the same # were built. After WW II , only 600 were made before they went out of business in 1950.

Yes it's true, Scott invented the kickstarter, great video, tech spec and history of the machine, a true lover of vehicles for what they really are instead of what they are worth. You are a true gent. Mike from the UK.

About sixty years ago, I read an article that said when the DKW factory was closed down in Germany, somebody found an early Scott engine dismantled in a storeroom. It was inferred that some parts of the design were copied and used in the early DKW two-stroke two-cylinder cars.

A little cool looking? No... A lot cool looking. Looks like it would be a shitload of fun to ride. Small bikes very often are a lot of fun. Lightweight, nimble, and a lot of fun to throw around in the curves. I'd really love to have something like this.

Jay never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge and collection, I would never have thought he’d have heard of Scott let alone owned one for 30 years! I saw my first Flying Squirrel at Sammy Miller’s Museum in Hampshire and I’ve not seen many others since. Fantastic to watch this episode.

If only those bikes could talk. Imagine the people that rode them and the roads they’ve traveled down. Like buying a new bike now and thinking in almost 100 years who might still be riding it?

I gotta say Jay you should publish your own motorcycle magazine. Your knowledge and presentation are remarkable. There was a period I didn't ride for about 20 years but I still managed to own and ride about a dozen brands to this day. I first saw a Scott Flying Squirrel in one of my father's friend's collection in the mid Seventies. I had a chance to buy it but I thought it was too archaic and mistakenly didn't think much of Brit engineering. Big mistake.

Loved the piece on the Scott Flying Squirrel. One thing you forgot to mention was the unique front forks which were invented by Alfred Scott and were the first telescopic type. I'm hoping to acquire a Scott soon and will be rebuilding and restoring it to it's former glory. Are you up for a friendly bit of racing Jay? Tim.
