This should be a well-known fact by now.. not only did we help orchestrate the overthrow of the pro Russian government there.. we aided them with supplies of arms, munitions, and training for the Civil War that broke out with the breakaway regions in the east.. what people don't know is that Donunsk and Lagunsk had both voted for independence in early 2015 and have been fighting against Ukraine ever since.. twice Russia, Germany, and France had tried to intervene and crafted peace agreements called the "Minsk accords".. boarders were drawn, and check points were built for boarder crossings.. but Ukraine had repeatedly violated these agreements with indiscriminate bombing of the capital cities in those regions.. killing thousands of innocent civilians in that 8 year period before the Russians got involved.. people need to understand, and I think Putin tried to explain this (with the 30 minute history lesson) is that the eastern 1/3rd of "modern day" Ukraine is Russian.. it always has been.. they speak Russian, they have Russian heritage and culture with museums, libraries, memorials, streets, cities, towns, and buildings, all with historical Russian names..
