I cannot get over how disgustingly cringe the writing for Ellie is in the show. The actress is pretty much just as bad. A bratty psychopathic bitch who reflects none of the traits of the game version. They turned a scared, yet brave and likeable character into a horrible anti-Ellie who is clearly designed to be a "boss babe" who dont need no man. The writers clearly had personal issues with the idea a Man could be the role of a protector for a female human. I wish Joels daughter actress and her had switched places.

I thought the explanation of the outbreak was the weakest part of the series. Whom ever wrote it has zero understanding of the global trade or the food supply and distribution.

Just imagine once all the people alive pre-pandemic die off. Like, the knowledge, the way of life, ideas etc. all lost. May not actually be a bad thing in the long run. But you can't predict the butterfly effect and how small events play a huge role in shaping the future of millions. Ellie having been born post-pandemic just doesn't have that knowledge. We take for granted that a middle schooler (well maybe a couple generations ago) had more basic knowledge than elites even only 200 years ago, pre-industrialization.

pretty unrealistic. even if the fungus evolved to deal with high heat it could never evolve to deal with the levels of heat we cook baked goods. for context, an object is considered sterile at 250-270 degrees Fahrenheit. a pancake when fully cooked through reaches 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Nothing, not a virus, bacteria, and especially not a fungus could live through that level of heat.

I bet something like Hawaii or another island deep in the middle of the pacific would have good chances to have remained mostly untouched by the outbreak.
