Personally, I feel that the team mechanic of Encore mode was exactly what the game needed to carve an unique identity for itself that feels wholy different from the Genesis-era titles.
Sure, the reused zones did have new layouts and gimmicks, but it still wasn't enough to shake off the feeling that I were just playing through a grab-bag of Sonic's greatest hits.

I really don't see why he hates the Spider Boss. I beat it on like the 2nd try. The big metal sonic is what stumped me.

For its price, the DLC was perfect. I wish they could make it 4 times better and charge 19,99. Designing levels for the extra characters would make this a whole different game. I loved it still

If this is the best Sonic, I'll gladly pass. I tried the first couple levels at friend's and hated the controls. Not helping that the only non-obnoxious character is the Tails Doll and he's not in this.

I love how in the transition to titanic monarch, when lighting strikes tails gets scared which I think is a reference to the first sonic movie when he says he’s afraid of lightning
