I barely handle myself not buying an M1 right now. It's powerful, but it's a hard thing to be an early adopter. Appreciate what you do for us, I just found your videos and already watched them all. Good job and keep up the good work.
ОтветитьNice video
Ответитьa xps 13 Intel Core i7-1165G7 16gb with manjaro i3wm would me much faster?.ps manjaro arch can have
arm processor as well
Nice test, just what I was looking for as a developer
ОтветитьHey, Is 8Gb of ram MacBook Air enough for a software engineering student. I also have a computer at home which has powerful pieces inside. I just want to work with MacBook at the university campus, cafes, etc., and while I am on a vacation. I want to work on android studio, unity hub and visual studio. By the way, I am a Turkish guy who loves to watch your content and I am sorry for my English if I made mistake.
ОтветитьBought M1 macbook pro two days ago installed arctic fox and performance is blazing fast but stable build is literally unusable
ОтветитьAnother slap from M1 🤧
Hi from PH 🇵🇭 !!
I develop applications for both iOS and Android. Is 8Gb + 256gb m1 macbook air good for that?
Ответитьwe need a revisit
Ответить🍎
ОтветитьThanks for the video, please give me jetbrain licence!
ОтветитьToo powerful M1...
ОтветитьI getting terrible experience of Android on my Macbook Pro M1
ОтветитьIt seems so early for Android Development. Emulator still have a lot of issues and not everyone have android devices of multiple vendors.
Anyway thanks for your videos. I really appreciate it.
Love your channel! Keep it up!
ОтветитьNot the IDE support for m1 is relevant. The gradle build system must be migrated, this is independent of Android Studio/IDEA. Idea ultimate has already a M1 version
ОтветитьIt clearly shows that you are not using the best performance mode in Lenovo laptop. In this case, the comparison can't e fair. You must make the performance high on the windows laptop and compare again, please...! Better performance mode can't use the full potential of the CPU.
ОтветитьHi my friend Alex, I hope you doing well. I am one of your followers from Iraq / Basra. Thanks for all what you're doing to us.
There is a beta version of Android Studio called "Arctic Fox Canary" fully support for Apple Silicon M1 (arm64) natively, and the Android Emulator works fine natively.
appreciate if you can do a video to try it.
Regards.
On my daily M1 MBA or MBPr, I don’t use java JRE/JDK binary embedded in x86 android studio. Instead, I use Zulu Binary optimised for ARM Mac. Of cause, it requires installation and change the default preferences of Java binary in android studio. The result is compiling a lot faster.
ОтветитьLatest canary version of Android Studio has experimental support for ARM now btw. It's worth doing another test once that hits stable.
ОтветитьI hope I will get the licence
ОтветитьI am trying not to get an M1 mac right now, and trying to wait a bit for the new M2 macs to see what I can get from there. We'll see what happens soon I guess.
ОтветитьKeep up the good content mate!
ОтветитьI think this is not accurate as you are comparing Windows with MacOS, That would be more helpful it you compare a high end mac machine, MacbookPro i9 as example with the M1
Ответитьhow you run android emu on mac m1?
ОтветитьConnected charger may improve performance btw
ОтветитьYou didn't turn on the best performance for lenovo laptop in the battery section !
ОтветитьWaiting for MacBook 14
ОтветитьTo think a MacBook Air is £500 less than the Lenovo, and is running a baseline processor (M1) when the Lenovo is using the top end 11th gen i7... and the former is emulating, with the latter being native? Madness.... the future for M1 is bright.
ОтветитьYou should plugin the windows machine cause its not using full power. Macos uses same power plugged in or not.
ОтветитьHi man, great video as always. I did found an Android Studio ported to Apple Silicon. And I think it will if you test and make some benchmarkings. Can you do it? You can found the source in the reddit
ОтветитьDoes android studio work smoothly on 8gb ?
ОтветитьFall of the empire of Intel.
ОтветитьGradle 7.0 should have native m1 support. So, you can try to use it from command line.
ОтветитьIt’s really good to see a developer doing really good build tests on different machines
ОтветитьJust bought a Mac m1 because your videos! Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Alexander and thanks for the video. As and Android developer I was able to do my own research and would like to share my experience. I tried to download the benchmark project and ran in on my personal Lenovo t14 gen1 with 8core Ryzen 4750pro. The fastest time was 2m 15s. My work M1 16GB Macbook Pro did it just slightly under 2m 30s. However it is possible to use Azul Zulu JDK - ARM version. Using that the build time went down to around 1m 30s. That is great improvement, but need to say this project is not well optimized for parallel build. If project can use all the 16 threads, the result would be different. Unfortunately Zulu JDK doesn't work for every project and cannot be used to run Android Studio. Android Studio on M1 runs bad, gets laggy very soon and system writes a lot to SSD. I am sure the native version will be alright, but so far cannot recommend it. There was recently released version of an emulator you can install from Android Studio that works nice. But only preview of Android S. Older stable versions not available. Another important thing to point out - It is crucial to exclude all Android, gradle etc. folder from antivirus to get decent performance. Can I also ask you to make the review with laptops plugged in? Sure for M1 it doesn't matter but for other laptops running on battery is almost always performance degradation. Developers mostly work with laptops plugged in anyway. Last question OT: any recommendation for some batch video converter for h265? Handbrake ARM version running on macbook is around 30% slower than the Ryzen laptop, uses more than 30W of power and gets noisy. (I don't need editing SW, just converter with best quality output, converting through graphics is mostly bad quality)
ОтветитьMight be quite impressive switching from a 2015 base MacBook Pro to a M1 Mac :o
Ответитьm1 is going big. m1 air is a bang for buck.
ОтветитьNice comparison, as always – goog job
ОтветитьI've just bought m1 Mac air. Finding your channel is a blessing. thanks for making those videos. Also love jet brains. need a licence badly.
ОтветитьMan, this is the exact channel I've been waiting for.
I'm a mobile, web, and game dev by trade and it seems like it's nearly impossible to find good "build test" videos on most newer hardware.
Here's a sub from me! Keep up with the awesome content
suprising result even without native arm support.
ОтветитьWhen will we see AMD premium Dell laptops for productivity ?
ОтветитьJetBrains FTW! :D
ОтветитьJetBrains <3
ОтветитьHey i subscribed and liked please give me the jetbrains
ОтветитьThat battery life shines on macbook.
ОтветитьThe ARM from the macs will be the best in a couple of years once all the apps are fully compatible with ARM :D
