GTX 1060 3GB vs 1060 6GB/ RX 470/ RX 480 1440p Gaming Benchmarks

Pretty good considering that it's playing Ultra settings in 1440p. The performance would greatly increase if you were playing this in 1080p High/Ultra Settings even on a GTX 1060 3gb.

what monitor are you using? how many inch?

there is also a 470 with 8GB vram available

1060 6gb> rx 480 > rx 470 > GTX 1060 3gb

1060 3GB + gsync monitor, it should be fine for most games out there :) imho

There is nothing "vastly" superior about the $300 6gb 1060 here...

It seems like the 470 has some interesting value for $179. If you are gaming on a 1080p monitor, I'd say it's a no brainer. 4GB seems more than enough right now.

DF, please make an analysis of the framerate lock tool in rivatuner, how it works, and how it affects frame times! it is the best tool to lock framerate in real time without using vsync on pc

The difference between RX 470 and 480 is incredibly small. IDK why they didn't just do a single card instead of having a "binned" version of Polaris 10 as the 470.

Why not underclock the farctory oc models to a boost reference clock?, to make more fair the comparations.
And you will test the GTX 970 in new games?, is still one of the most popular gpu.

470 huge value, same perf almost. Just get the cheaper out of the 6gb 1060 or 8gb480x they are basically the same, but rx seems better for dx12

Why are frame-times so bad on Ashes of the Singularity so bad on the AMD side?

You guys should really try and see if you can make separate videos dedicated to comparing cards on the next gen api's. I'd love to see more how these cards will compete in the future.

Polaris sucks, even the cut down 3GB with less CUDA cores owns it in almost every game, sole exception beeing Hitman.

I generally prefer AMD, but this is just sad. RX 480 getting beaten by a cut down 1060. May get that one actually. Cheaper than RX 480 yet more powerful. AMD just don't try anymore, always output underperforming cards since Fiji. High power draw for no RL results at all.

Unfair comparison, they're benching the 4GB 480 which has a lower memory clock than the 8GB version. If they're comparing performance between 3GB 1060 and 4GB 470, they should be using the 8GB 480 to compare to the 6GB 1060.

so the 3gb card can lock 30, at 1440p in newer games running on High... that's pretty good for it's price !!

In low level api like DX12/Vulkan RX470 is as good as full 1060. I see no reason to pay more for the same performance. I will buy RX 470 4 GB.

Please add the benchmark of Doom with Vulkan. Need to show how future games will be running with Vulkan.

AMD fanboys crying so hard after Doom benchmarks. There's already three AMD optimized games on that list. Maybe it's time to face the reality and not substitute your own.

u use rather chitty scnes none of them except for that high end strategic game give u an example of an heavy load scenario, like combat scenes... withger would easily go down to 30 in fights!

the perf of all the cards is just not enough for 1440p
ive an rx480 red devil on 1050p and its a common thing for it to go down to 50 fps on necent games maxed...

Pascal's memory compression is really impressive, 3GB is almost enough for every game at 1440p and in games like Hitman/AC Unity you could just lower one or two settings.
