the only prima donna
bella donna
and always first in anything she choses
This is my beautiful great great aunt Margaret Hookham
ОтветитьI did a report on her when I was in 6th grade. I love her!
ОтветитьLa. Classe non e acqua

Ответить2'46 entrechats are tiny , pity not enough technic .
ОтветитьОни прекрасны!!!!!!
ОтветитьPpl who mock them should try the extremely hard movement
ОтветитьMagical partnership, no one to match Nureyev's genius or fonteyn
ОтветитьI Love Their Performance; Together!!! I Think That It is Superbly Splendid!!!
ОтветитьI like Fonteyn in Sleeping Beauty but her Giselle doesn't wow me. Rudy's Albrecht doesn't wow me either, but he is better in this video than in his late performances. In the 1979 studio recording he is playing Albrecht as the biggest swine who ever lived, and that doesn't work at all. Margot at least doesn't confuse Giselle with Mary Vetsera, good for her.
ОтветитьShe is such a beautiful dancer and this made me so happy to see because I actually did gisell in my ballet competition with my crush and i think i nailed it and it’s definitely not a simple dance
ОтветитьUm par com uma técnica inexcedível. Fico sem palavras ao ver uma actuação como esta!
ОтветитьTo the people that judge Fonteyn! I think you guys is used to see Anorexic/skeleton gymnast ballerina who doesn’t even know what tf that they even doing and dance and just showing off their long leg like a Crane birds, fonteyn and other ballerina before 1960s doesn’t have that and they’re beautiful and have skill of their own, they don’t have to show their legs or their anorexic ugly body to people so people will be pleased to see the performance they only need to show the character and emotion and people will be roaring in their seats!
Ответитьwow she hit fifth so consistently in those quatre!
ОтветитьFrom the time Nureyev could dance, though I could have done without his emoting a la MacMillan's Mayerling (which isn't included here). Romantic ballets weren't Fonteyn's thing, I prefer her in Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.
The tempo is a little too fast, it gives off the impression they are merry making, which is wrong. I'm not a fan of the too slow modern tempi, but this too fast.
Both were amazing in their day true ballet dancers xx
ОтветитьI don't understand....the technique has evolved? The steps are the same on the whole, it is exaggeration that has evolved.
ОтветитьКак жаль , что Марго Фонтейн , похоронена не в Англии , а в далекой Панаме ....
ОтветитьAmazing that we get to see such a pair perform on video. The both of them are amazing, I understand why they were so acclaimed at the time. Even though the technique has evolved so much, they are still magnetic, I couldn't keep my eyes off of them.
ОтветитьFonteyn was classically perfect. If anything she made it all look too easy). Nureyev, I got to see rehearse with the Canadian Ballet. He was incredibly charismatic, and very funny! I wasn't surprised to see him do a stint on The Muppet Show lol. I'm lucky enough to have been named for Dame Margot, and met her also at a book signing. Very beautiful (and tiny!) and so "British" in manner (graceful, just like her dancing; perfect diction).
ОтветитьOf course when you see osipova, vichneva, obratshova, they are technically better but in the sale tile, she brings something personnal to the charkter of Gizelle.Bravo
Ответить2020, and I accidetaly found this.
ОтветитьThey seem to be listening to other music: They can't go in time!
Could this be pleasing?
I saw Nureyev and Fonteyn perform in Giselle at the Opera House in Zurich in the Summer of 1970. What I can say is she was not the technical exhibitionist of today, the gymnast en pointe, but they were consummate artists with a magical electricity between them. The ballerinas of today are remarkable contortionists , but it’s hard to convince me that all these extreme dancers bending in ways which are nearly impossible are artists meant to convey a story we can be part of.
ОтветитьI don't know when ICA will upload the full pas de deux but it is important they do as a record of this fabulous partnership. A friend wrote to me and said that there is some thing beautiful about understated simplicity makes you want more. How true is that!
ОтветитьWhat a shame we cannot translate some of the comments.
ОтветитьWhy can I only ever find act 2 from this ballet with Nureyev and Fonteyn??? Was the film damaged and this part the only recovered part?
ОтветитьUna naturalezza, una levità, una vera delizia esecutiva... coppia unica ed irripetibile. La tecnica è sublime a non importa la chiave tecnica, erano la perfezione assoluta! Vivevano il balletto nella loro essenza ...
ОтветитьI just listened again to the Gelsey Kirkland interview. And from it came," You won't find the answer in just the steps themselves." This is so true-and Fonteyn is the illustration of this statement. Fonteyn is the physical expression of the music she dancers.
ОтветитьLegends! Real size ballet dolls, epic!
ОтветитьLegends !
ОтветитьMargot Fonteyn was overrated
ОтветитьI like her romantic tutu-we can see her legs!! Not like those ankle length nightgowns that so many of the Russian dancers wear.
Ответитьthese guys are the best in show ,what a pair they deserve each other beyond doubt ps i love his egg box x
ОтветитьFonteyn always looked to me like she was not totally "on point" but more on tip toes, if you watch closely. Of course, her flexibility was none existent (I could lift my legs higher at her age) but that apparently was the style at the time. Ankles next to ears like they expect today just doesn't exist in old ballet films.
