I think you jumped important step, how did you go in the nas without connecting directly to laptop to set ip address?
My problem I can no longer access my nas when connected to router from my new location, therefore I'm trying connect directly via laptop.

it was a very useful video, lately from my own network I had to connect via myqnapcloud.
it is really boring to transmit very large and private data over the internet but with this method of yours I can pass the backup files very quickly. thank you for this is a reference video for me. thanks again

Very good video. And how to connect directly the Asus Pro Art StudioBook laptop via Thunderbolt to the Qnap TS-h973AX?

If connecting to a Mac with thunderbolt I'm not sure why I go through any of this. When I want to temp connect to internet, I run a ethernet cable to back of the nas. It auto connects. Are there settings you feel I should change or add or do different?

Thank you for this video @digibite I struggled but got things to mostly work. I have the Qnap 653d with two 2.5 Lan ports. I also have a pc with 10gb Lan and 2.5 lan built into my Asus motherboard. I followed your instructions perfectly, but was still being capped at 1gb because my write speeds were no more than 115mbs. But when I turned off the 10gb pcnetwork adapter and then tried to move files, my speeds went as high as 280mbs to my mapped Qnap network drive. This made me happy. However, it seems like when I turn on my 10gbe pc connection the Qnap defaults back to that for file management and then I get the bottleneck again. Is it possible for me to keep my 10gb pc connection for the internet only and use my 2nd 2.5gb pc lan port as the only protocol for uploading and downloading files on my main pc?

Hi, what do you recommend for resolving slow upload speeds? Cat6 running from QNAP NAS to PC both have 2.5GBE cards. Upload speeds via webGUI were around 128MBs. Thanks

Thanks this video was very helpful. I was able to map the drives from my QNAP NAS to my Windows 10 PC. Now I have another problem which maybe I think you may know how to fix. Everytime I log into the QNAP, I get msgs that antivirus is not updated and this app or that app is not update etc. This is because the NAS is connected directly to my PC via ethernet. My PC is connected to the router via WiFi. So is there a way to get my NAS to use the internet through my PC? This way I can have things updated etc. I don't need remote access. I just want the NAS to be able to do antivirus and app updates etc. Please suggest a solution, thanks!

Can I set this up wirelessly if I install a wireless card on the QNAP? Between the NAS and laptop?
