Dad Reacts to Daft Punk - Discovery

My dad (64) grew up with all the legendary rock bands in his youth. I had "daft punk" and "Gorillaz". Now id say his era has way more legends but I'll proudly put "daft punk" in the "music legends acropolis"

This album came out a year after my dad passed away; quite literally one of the albums that saved my life..
and after all these years, still one of the most important albums to me.

You need to watch Interstellar 555 which was made in conjunction with a Japanese anime artist which was made in conjunction to this music by Daft Punk !!!

You should also watch the animated movie Interstella 5555, it's a silent movie with just the Discovery album playing and it brings in on a whole new level. Truly a masterpiece.

It is the culmination of all of their work, prior to RAM of course.

Bonus points if you check out the live footage from the tour as well. Stage production was unprecedented for 2007 electronic music at that time.

You guys would also get a kick out of Justice’s self-titled album “Justice” from 2007. It’s an electronic/rock album it’s a highly regarded album as well.

Like my fifth edit lol: regarding the track “Veridis Quo” can be “Very Disco” if you loop it it can be “Disco Very” which can also be “Discovery” 🤯

One of the best albums ever. They definitely stick to a recipe for building a song. I think it goes right back to when they started and were playing live on hardware drum machines and synth sequencers.

I was in middle school when I first heard this album. I'm 35 now. Just an awesome album that still sounds great, which is hard enough for music in general but is basically impossible in electronic genres.

fun fact about Face To Face: the vocalist is Todd Edwards, and is the originator of that style of sampling (he's one of the Pioneers of House music). You can catch him on Get Lucky also, he does the chopping around the middle & end. You should check out one of his ICONIC tracks from the early/mid 90s, his remix of Indo - R U Sleeping (Todd Edwards mix), though his whole library is massive & excellent. He came up with that style of microsampling due to in the early 90s, his sampler was very limited in its Sample lengths, and birthing genres like UK Garage (even though Todd is from New Jersey).

As a French 26yo listening this album as a kid, now being a hard music listener, producer and dj for the past 10 years, i had goosebumps at every track opening, i might be bias but i think he has to be one of the best music album of all time in any music gender. Most of these tracks are still banging in the club after 2 decades, u can put it with any gender, it will work

One More Time was one of the biggest club bangers in history. Crowds would lose their shit when it came out.
