Makes sense, could use a vise for holding wood on top. Or, where can I get good clamps NOT made in china?
ОтветитьWife found a beast of a table on Marketplace for $50. Guy used it to make concrete forms. I’d love to add a tool shelf
ОтветитьGreat video! I'm looking to build my first workbench, and I love the idea of the flat solid core door surface. I'd like to build it exactly as you show here. However, no one seems to have these available. Are these masonite? Or....? What EXACTLY should I ask for? Lumber people at Lowes's/Home Depot are steering me towards butcher blocks....any guidance appreciated!
ОтветитьVery helpful video.
ОтветитьGreat. Thank you : )
ОтветитьAre the solid core doors able to be ripped? I have a smaller space and might need 24” instead of 46”
ОтветитьFor cutting out the rounded corners, could you not have drilled it with the hole saw and then used the circular saw for the straight bits? Undercut it a bit and hand-saw into the corners?
I'm not a woodworker. Just kinda what I thought you were going to do when I saw the hole saw.
Great build, I will try it. Do you have plans and a dedicated video, maybe I. Issues it
ОтветитьDid you take the stickers off yet?
ОтветитьThis is a very good idea & design, love it!
ОтветитьEthan
Your Keep it simple attitude is well placed.Have watched a dozen work tables and this suites my needs.Would use only 1/2” plywood to lighting the bench.Might fix some Masonite on top for scarfing. Thanks for your designs
Thank you for your deep dive into this song!
ОтветитьI agree with everyone who said this project is doable--and very helpful when setting up a shop and beginning to work with wood. I bought my solid core door and was wondering how to support it. Many thanks.😅
Ответитьhow are the brakes on the castors? Does the table slightly skid? If you want the table to be perfectly level, do the castors interfere with that?
ОтветитьSaving this because im about to build my own massage table for my spa
ОтветитьI am Happy seeing this !
ОтветитьYou nailed it on this build! The perfect table to roll out into the driveway when the weather is nice. I'd have no reservations screwing right into the top or adding a dog hole wherever I needed one for a project. It's almost exactly what I will build. I will add a low shelf for extra storage. Also I'd like to make one of the long sides flush with the top, to facilitate vertical clamping.
ОтветитьNice build! Question: Why put the pocket holes on the inside? Is that just for aesthetics or are you aiming the screws towards the solid wood edges? Thanks!
ОтветитьIs 200mm too much of an overhang for the worktop to have? I’m designing my workbench at the moment and come to realisation that 200mm might be too much? Wanted to have enough space for clamping.
ОтветитьThis is a great idea.
Would you say this has practical advantages over, say, a double layer of MDF? Besides the time required to laminate your MDF, of course.
This was super helpful, thank you honest carpenter!!!
ОтветитьAbout $80 for a solid core door… Lol
Was your discount $100??
Dog holes in top?
ОтветитьThat is awesome. I think I could even build this. But it would take an entire weekend. Maybe this summer.🙂
Ответитьso the legs are attached to the sides only and not the table top?
Ответить$143 for a solid core door at Lowes. Why wouldn't I just buy a 4x8 sheet of birch ply for $80?
ОтветитьI like your idea for the Workbench, basic simple and be accomplished. with what most wood workers have on hand. I was going to build a Ron Paulk style workbench with one end solid plywood, so I can put casters on the end, turn the bench on end when it is not in use for storage. My shop is in my garage and with little room to work on projects. I will use folding saw horses for support of the workbench.
ОтветитьWhat a great idea for a tabletop. I am definitely going to build this.
ОтветитьI used scrap materials(wood etc) and it cost less than $100
ОтветитьI work at Lowes in the millworks dept. I sell these doors and I know firsthand how heavy they are. It's the perfect work surface. I love your design. Perfect timing for me as I recently moved to a different house and need a new work bench. Thanks for your awesome videos. I
ОтветитьLoved this. Simple, practical, sturdy, & very functional. Great idea to use a solid door as the workbench top.
ОтветитьWould solid core doors (even with MDF inside) be good candidates for dog holes? If so, would it make sense to drill them all the way through, especially if the door gets flipped to the other side some day?
Ответитьexcellent build, love the idea of the door for the top
ОтветитьHi! Sweet table, would you seal this table frame or top with anything? Thank you.
ОтветитьPicked up a 27x60 x1.5 laminated birch bench top from Woodcraft for $150. I'm good to go with this simple and functional workbench build. thanks
ОтветитьLove it- perfect for what I do— thank you!😁👍🌴
ОтветитьAwesome Idea, Thanks, I have resisted the idea of building a shop table due to the storage issues. This is perfect .
ОтветитьHi Ethan... Well after watching your video many times this week, I went to HD today and bought a 36"x80" solid core door ($124-ouch) and 3/4"x4'x8' & 1/2"x4'x8' plywood along with some 2"x4"s for the legs. I'm gonna build your super cool design tomorrow. I'm a little confused about the 11.5" rips on the 3/4" plywood. You stated you have a 5.5" opening to access the shelf, along with 3" on top and 2" on the bottom. That's only 10.5", right? Where did the other 1" go? Or what am I not seeing or understanding? I would greatly appreciate you helping this beginner so I can make my cuts accurately tomorrow. Thank you for a GREAT video and a Brilliant idea with the shelf! Outstanding job!
ОтветитьI liked the place for tools
ОтветитьHas anyone added bench dog holes to a solid core door bench top? Curious how its holding up.
ОтветитьGreat project! Maybe add another shelf close to where the caster wheel assembly is? It might be an easy place to store pipe clamps or partially finished elements like drawers.
ОтветитьHow long were your Lag Bolts that you used for that price
ОтветитьWhat size wheels to you use?
ОтветитьNo face vise or end vise?
ОтветитьI just built your table today. I love it!
ОтветитьPls.suggest how to make medium wooden box with measurements how to cut wooden material for that
ОтветитьI was pretty sure that I knew how I was going to build my table. After watching this, though, I'm having second thoughts. Nice simple design.
