Luv u Noam!! Keep up the good work!
ОтветитьHe is prolly the most brilliant man i know who had been falsely accused of leftist
ОтветитьInquire not acquire, discover not cover, .. and being independent in one's thinking 🤔
This is one of the rare modern Jews I respect for their independent state of mind.😊
ENLIGHTENMENT IS SOMETHING !!!!! EDUCATION IS NOTHING !!!!!!
ОтветитьTruly educated? Like on the Bell Curve or International Bankers v SS rivalry behind WWII? Do tell! Or don't/won't ever?

ОтветитьI'm so sick of hearing "wHeN aM i GOiNg To uSe cALcUluS iN REAL LIfE??" all the time. If you don't understand that most classes are to train your mind, rather than memorize a bunch of formulas, you probably didn't make it to calculus anyway.
ОтветитьObrigada Prof.Chomsky, uma das mentes mais brilhantes da atualidade.
ОтветитьWhat a man!
ОтветитьNoam Chomsky is biased which is a form of stupidity.
ОтветитьPhilosophers should explore the world more in my opinion. Perhaps they should go and live in cultures/countries with a low average quotient of the stuff that matters and the sky-high violent crime statistics that usually go hand in hand with a low average quotient. Perhaps these "philosophers" would then understand that passive cultures (high average quotient and low violent crimes statistics) are slowly by surely wiped out when they are forced to live in close proximity to the seemingly violent by nature cultures that prey on them almost to extinction! Now THAT would be a proper education! They still haven't found Nick Frischke's body and he is the tip of a VERY large iceberg, poor chap!
ОтветитьGive scholarships for the sciences, creaters studying health, and to people with brains. These students can be from anywhere. Health is wealth. Not enough health care in the world.
ОтветитьToo bad the modern populist mantra is to question and poke holes in everything but provide no solutions other than religious texts.
ОтветитьA great college history professor said that he can’t teach students all the facts or ideas in a history class. Rather he aims to teach students to THINK like a historian.
ОтветитьGood teachers teach children to be inquisitive, that is want to learn more. No-one can learn more without understanding what they already know, I guess teachers are pretty great at that too. They just make sure they know what students already know and how to stretch them everyday of the week. That is kind of what they do everyday.
ОтветитьThat was an insightful 3.5 minutes💡
Ответить65 years?? Got Damn Noam...
Ответитьthis man makes me wanna read a book
ОтветитьLearn to say by by, oldcreep
ОтветитьI believe Chomsky talked about Russell's ideas on education as well. In his essay, Russell emphasizes on the spirit of free inquiry and the value of intrinsic discipline, both of which help a person acquire ideal education.
Ответитьso if you have the money for the "resources" then youre sorted
ОтветитьVery true but this is an age of sound bites, not reading and least of all thinking, of being served up ready-made fare, not discovering from within yourself, of having prominence on the social media, not engaging in conversation.
Ответитьwhat an extremely boring way to say “self educate”. Hitchens was right about this man.
Better to say that an educated person is one who has learned to provide for themselves and their family and be done with it.
Meanwhile… phoney politicians today call people fighting for their independence “terrorists” just to get their own way for petty business
ОтветитьJust read and travel.
ОтветитьAl Farabi said "being educated is being able to discover"
ОтветитьThe most overrated “thinker “in America.
ОтветитьEducate for life not for work.
ОтветитьI wish Chomsky could live to see the next decade at least
Ответить“I am frequently asked if I have visited Israel, whereas yet, it is simply assumed that I have. Well, I don’t travel. I really don’t, and if I did, I probably wouldn’t visit Israel. I remember how it was in 1948 when Israel was being established and all my Jewish friends were ecstatic, I was not. I said: what are we doing? We are establishing ourselves in a ghetto, in a small corner of a vast Muslim sea. The Muslims will never forget nor forgive, and Israel, as long as it exists, will be embattled. I was laughed at, but I was right. I can’t help but feel that the Jews didn’t really have the right to appropriate a territory only because 2000 years ago, people they consider their ancestors, were living there. History moves on and you can’t really turn it back." - Issac Asimov PhD Columbia Biochemistry (childhood, Orthodox Jewish tradition, a humanist and a rationalist, without strong religious influences)

ОтветитьUnfortunately, too many people think that if you cannot get a high-paying job after finishing higher level education, then it was a waste of time.
Ответитьguy's a lunatic
ОтветитьEducational system I grew up in tried the best they could to end my curiosity and just keep me in my desk seat....😂
ОтветитьUnder the banner of Manifest Destiny, expansionist policies were enacted that directly impacted Native Americans. The ideology provided moral and legal justification for the acquisition of indigenous lands, often through force or dubious treaties. Native Americans were depicted as savages obstructing the path of civilization and progress, a narrative that facilitated their dispossession and marginalization.
ОтветитьJust read. It's that simple. Just read.
ОтветитьNot one word wasted! What an honor to know I live in the same timeframe this man is alive. Is like being a contemporary of Socrates, Da Vinci, or Newton.
ОтветитьThe practical definition of education. Not knowing facts but leading to discovery objectively systematically.
ОтветитьGood Lord Chomsky says so much here. I get lost in thoughts due to all the insight he puts forth! 🤔😊
“I can do no better…go back to the classic views…make your own way…”
I like how he describes an ideal education and says something like “this can be done in kindergarten”
You know the crazy thing about Chomsky? You KNOW he's read all those books he has around
ОтветитьWhat an incredibly boring response.
ОтветитьYou might also be succinct.
ОтветитьSo to be truly educated means being able to 'formulate serious questions'?
ОтветитьWhat we have these days is called training. People are trained nowadays. Education is what I consider as the ability to talk and write about concepts as understandable and concretely(objectively) as possible for an audience or even yourself. Most of the times the problem is with the concepts layed out by the writer. A lot of theories are just not as clear as they claim, let alone being logical. We have so many ambiguous theories and concepts being pushed down our throat. The problem is not only when they teach it at schools, but they have assessments and exams designed around them. Exams so important that you just stamp your foot on the ground and say why should I be having this exam full of ambiguous points and lessons? Applied Linguistics and the teaching methods are one example. I love teaching but the teaching method books like Larsen-Freeman or Richards and Rogers or Chomsky's books are among the contradictory and evidence-lacking books.
ОтветитьWhen a highly educated american like N.Chomsky, this eminent professor and educator, speaks american english every word is clear, every sentence is printed in your brain. On the contrary, when a bastard, a son or a daughter of a bitch (a homeless living in streets, an inmate behind bars, a truck driver, a jobless with no education nor a diploma) when one of these scumbags, these bins of trash begin speaking american english, it's chinese, japenese, ambiguous and you don't stop blamig yourself, saying: I'll never be fluent in english. Damn it! And go to hell dirty scumbags and fake american english speakers!
Long life to high educated americans!
Putin apologist.
