What if you just unplug the button? does that turn it off? I don't care about turning it back on.

I literally am in the habit of close door, seatbelt , turn key , turn off auto start like second nature . Every once in a while I don’t push the button and I’ll come to a stop and think the car just died on me 😂😂😂

Anyone know how to pop the buttons out on a B8 Passat R? Can't get your fingers under them like in the Golf. No amount of prying on it will pop them 😓 Got the shifter boot and trim pieces off exactly the same though.

Charles, I got this as a Christmas Gift and man what a bear to install. I have a 2020 GTI and I could not get the switches to pop up. You made it look so easy, so not sure what I was doing wrong, but they would not budge. So I installed with them in place and what a PITA. Its in, but when I start the car the system does deactivate upon turning the key, but I hear this low "Nat Nat" electrical sound coming from the shifter area. It didn't do this before the jumper install, so was curious is this normal? Does the harness contain some kind of relay or something inside the wiring that causes a sound? If the noise keeps bugging me, I may just put it back to stock, but for now its a muffled sound and only does it when the car starts about 2-3 seconds after. Strange. Your Thoughts??

I have start/stop on my 2012 Passat Alltrack (B7). Have not found any cable for the B7 version, but I wonder if this could work on my car too...

Built my own device that works similar before I knew these things were on the market. Very handy to have one these new vehicles if you dislike the start/stop systems

Going to give this a try. My mk7 GLI I got as a replacement for my totaled GTI has been coded with OBD11 but still engages when I stop. My other cars like my wife’s atlas have worked with the vcds coding but this GLI keeps killing the engine when I stop even with coding until I manually press the button. Hopefully this will work as advertised. Thanks Charles.

This system is so messed up. Imagine going 100 mph on highway, then you catch a traffic jam, you stop and motor goes off. Turbo is hot as hell, no oil pressure, so it's just boil at the hot side, producing leftovers of coal. Doing so several times just kills turbo, turbo kills engine. Hot engine itself can suffer from oil being washed off cylinder walls too quick.
Is producing more engine parts to repair cost to environment less than a "fuel saving" of notning/100km? Those green people are lie

Came across this vid looking for a way to fix a stuck 'stop/start button' - I think crumbs are in there.... Anyway, this is a much better solution. I'm guessing it would work on an Australian equivalent Mk 7?

I think it has to do with EPA fuel economy ratings as you say. They cannot say it gets x city mpg if the car isn't by default set up that way on every restart.

I am from Canada. Is this harness available for a 2021 atlas. I have had my vehicle in the dealership 3 times now because the auto stop start feature fails and the car doesn’t come back on. Almost got hit because of it. If possible I would like to do this in my car.

Did anyone tried to use this thing and put normal battery not with start stop system? I want to buy cheaper battery and disable error message that pops on.

Would this be the same procedure for a 2015 B8 vw passat 2.0 tdi? I'd love to remove stop/start. Tried remapping it out and the car didn't like it, went all glitchy.

Odd. I installed this and on my 2019 golf r it is always off. If I press the button it goes back off in a few seconds.

I did my tiguan this past weekend. Got it from Ali-express. So satisfying to get rid of this nuisance feature. No error codes or LED symbals on the dash. Takes 20 min to do.

Yeah..........those buttons don't just pop out like that. At least not on my 2019 GTI. I was able to get the trim removed though. Anyone got a video on how to get those buttons out? @HumbleMechanic How do we get those buttons out?????
