Thanks so much for creating this, and your sample pack! I purchased it today (and my 404mk2 a couple of days ago). I will be using it for ambient sound journeys and this is a great way to get me started with learning how to make the most of it for my purpose.

Please bring us a full manual in german language. It is a complex machine🎉

Just bought it. One thing I can’t get somehow is , I see options for importing samples to a pad from Sd card. BUT! I can’t seem to be able to find a way to audition the factory samples that are on the device and assign the ones I want to any chosen pad I want? Is it in front of me and I fail to see it? How do you do that ?

Is there any way to extend the 'skip back' so its more than 25 seconds? For example, could you change the quality of the sampling?

Im interested in having something like this in my audio chain so that if I'm practicing and i come up with a lick, or four bars of something, or an entire melody, it's all there waiting for skip back. 25 seconds might do for a drum loop, but it wouldn't be nearly long enough for an interesting chain of ideas.

Basically, I want a hardware recorder something that's always on, always there, always waiting for that next spontaneous acoustic idea. Roland, how about changing what it means to be creative?

So much of popular music is based on the constraint imposed by the gear. 16 steps. or Two minutes of sampling time, forces you to be thrifty with your ideas. How about lifting those constraints, and at the same time changing the face of music. I'm thinking of the Gigga, a way to create entire reference tracks, based on those whose wild deep-dive live-flowing ideas.

I understand one can load full track wavs, but I’m wondering if you can chain many samples ( full tracks) per pad ? The idea is that each track will play one after another.Thanks

Hey thanks for the detailed video! Can you clear up one thing for me. On the metronome settings where it allows you to select the click going out of the mains or just the headphone out, does this apply during playback or just during recording?

Good video - like the narrator's voice a lot too. Makes it all a bit easier to digest than just skimming through the PDF manual. Would be nice to have an updated version for the 3.0 firmware (a complete reworked manual, not just addendums of the new features).

Fantastic video thank you! Question, why when cant my MKii seem to receive or send midi clock data out or in to my Novation Circuit? I want to be able to sync the neats on my 404 to my Circuit and deapite midi settings on both devives apparently being correct, its time does not change?

Seriously Roland, no one at your social media? No reaction to my last post of a month ago? No idea why my sp-404 mk II can't connect with the app? I can use the SP-404 mk II as an audio interface but not connect it with the app. It sees it is connected to my pc because the connect button appears and disapears when I turn the SP-404 mk II on and off. But when pressing connect it says: "0 x H" It could be a good device, this SP-404 but this not connecting issue really limits my use of the device. I want to be able to adjust settings and load samples from the pc. Instead I have tot take the card out, load it on there, put it back in, load it in presets. I really get angry again for Roland not taking this serious. My BOSS GT-1000 core seems to connect perfectly to the app they provide. Maybe ask your buddies at BOSS to help you fix the app...........

It's frustrating because DJ mode is pretty close to being good, but it's just not. Has anybody at Roland ever watched a DJ mix? Obviously DJ mode should have an option to simultaneously control a separate high-pass filter (or low EQ) on each channel without having to toggle between busses. And there's no way to bring in a track with a loop! Look at the way anybody has used a CDJ for more than 20 years! Literally 90% of what I'm doing when I DJ is using high-pass filters, low EQ, and triggering/releasing loops! Most DJs would be better off avoiding DJ mode. Just chop up a track into samples then use choke groups so you can trigger a sample to get out of a loop.

An updated video, to account for the new firmware would be super interesting to see...:)

Do I need to connect to the internet in anyway to make good house music from this box. I dont want to download, register or connect to any other device to do this? I've asked this question so many times now and I never get an answer. Please help

As I understand it that if you power the device with a powerbank then its has to be USB C to USB C and then what? What voltage does the output has to be? Minimum amps was 1,5A and that's fine but the voltage is really important. Does anybody know this?

My only beef with this product is that it is lighter and feels chincier, cheaper, than previous SPs. Especially arguably the most important data dial feels cheap and it slips slightly, compared to the knobs up top which feel very nice. It sits proud of the face of the unit, it will definitely catch on stuff and will be pulled back and forth if you don't have this in a case or decksaver. The decksaver was almost $100. The data dial It will be the first thing that breaks. and they made it a slightly different shape, so you will need a new custom bag and stand and dust cover, you won't be able to reuse custom fit SP404 gear on the Mark2, and it feels really cheap. So much thought was put into this, and they decided to change the shape of the thing. Oh right and they switched from RCA which they used on the 202, 303, 404mk1, 555, 505, and 606. ALL OF THOSE USE RCA. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU CHANGE AFTER USING RCA FOR ALL OF THOSE UNITS?!?! My SP-555 which by comparison feels like it could go to war and return scratched but alive. This mark2 would be killed in the first battle. Even though my 202 is plastic, it still feels more robust than the mark2. Some very strange design choices I don't understand keep this from being near-perfect.

Great device. I really love it.
