absolutelly, agreed 200%!
ОтветитьExcuse my ignorance but will this take better pics than the latest camera phones such as the Samsung s23 ultra?
ОтветитьPicked up mk3 last month for £150 with malfunctioning focus ring. Brilliant camera
ОтветитьI just wish it had an articulating screen!!
ОтветитьThe pictures are very grainy. Also colors look like they have low bit depth in plenty of instances. There were weird color casts in many photos. Some photos were okay, but overall it's just not exactly what one would expect from 1 inch sensor compact. In terms of colors and noise modern 1/2.3" are much better, maybe even older 1/2.3" cameras are better. I hope that it's just weird auto mode.
ОтветитьHi! I would like to know if it's worth to pay around 180 € for that second hand camera.
If not, what other compact camera would be alright for that price!
I have mine still, love it!
ОтветитьI bought the RX100 mk 1 in 2018--quite cheap then. It's no way worse than the ZV-1, even perhaps better, with the pics
ОтветитьAnyone know if this is too early of a Sony release to have the picture profiles feature?
Ответитьwhat aspect ratio do you guys use for photo, 16:9 or 4:3 ?
ОтветитьHave one, it's a great camera. Perfect balance of size and output.
ОтветитьThe photos you show look very sharp and accurate. Must say, though, the colour rendition just seems to come across rather flat, and samey. As if the processing has sucked some life out of them. Oddly like a modern day Iphone. Oh, and by the way.., Re:.. ".... 20Mp..... surprisingly quite capable... ". Why is it such a big surprise ? Great photographs have been taken for ever, nothing to do with how many Megapixels were involved.
Ответитьreally love the bnw photos!
ОтветитьRicoh GR III, Sony RX100 Mk5 or Sony RX100 Mk7... Which is the best pocketable camera from your point of view?
I had the RX100 Mk5 and in my opinion, the biggest reason to move to Mk6 or Mk7 was the touch screen more than the zoom. The lens in the Mk5 is really good in terms of maximum aperture...
My issue with RX100 was its ergonomics (which could have been improved with a touch screen).
Sony missed the shot with not having a Mk5 with touch screen... Mk6 and Mk7 have lost the ND filter (really important if you want to do video) and have got a lens with bigger reach, but lower max aperture.
I have the GR IIIx and in terms of ergonomics, it wins hands down any RX100... Of course, you are limited to a fix focal length (but you have an APSC sensor).
Recently I have interest in photography and bought this camera, how do you set your camera? If possible can you share your camera manual settings. I saw your pictures and it was great in my eyes.
ОтветитьCan I use this camera as a webcam with a capture card?
ОтветитьBargain, I have one, blows out compared to my DSCR1 which makes stellar images, but is very big.
ОтветитьHey love the video. were these images all shot on Jpegs?
ОтветитьHi, thanks for your video, it's helping a lot to make my decision. I was wondering if you know if it's possible to use some kind of remote controller or shooter?
ОтветитьI'm buying one after seeing this, so simple, cheap as chips, a nice B roll camera to my Leica QP, thanks for a great vid!
ОтветитьA bit of a PSA - the motor/zoom mechanism in the OG rx100s will start to fail, rendering the camera unusable. Happened to mine - after long years of service mind you. I then managed to pick up another very cheaply at a flea market, that too started exhibiting the same failure after a few months.
Pretty sure its just a case of "nothing lasts forever" and wear and tear, but any M1 rx100 you find is going to be very old and with lots of wear and tear.
Couldn't agree more. I have the same camera, very beat up, but I paid £57 for it. The camera is always in my jacket pocket so available to take a picture. I have better larger cameras, but if the camera isn't with you their picture quality doesn't matter. I know I also have a phone on me, but somehow that is not the same.
ОтветитьI enjoyed this video, I used to have the M2, then I sold it and bought the original in a nice condition, sharper images than from my Pixel 6A phone
ОтветитьGreat vid - Such a fan of anyone who isn’t swayed solely by new camera. I came here considering whether to buy the M5 so this video was a big thumbs up. I started with the M1 when it was first launched and upgraded until about the M4 and then sold it but I’ve missed it since. Thanks
ОтветитьDo you still have your kidney?
ОтветитьNice photos. Now all I have to do is get my RX100 out of the drawer it’s been in for more than 10 years and work out how to take them I meant to do,that when I bought it but mobile phone cameras stopped me from making the effort…😢
ОтветитьFirst, love your b&w shots. Haven’t used the b&w profile but will probably try it I have the Mk v and personally I think it’s the best of the series as its lens is faster than the vi or vii. .
Question: my raw files have less detail than the jpegs. Has anyone had that issue?
Anyway thanks for spotlighting an under appreciated camera that I think makes a great street camera.
Thanks for the excellent video. I just ordered one of these online. I’ve been looking for something to take on a cruise this fall when I want something really small. Looking at your sample photos reassures that I made a good choice. Saved a nice chunk of change over the other cameras I was considering also.
ОтветитьHey man if I found one for 100 dollars do you recommend it?
Ответитьwell, i like my rx100 but i don't get the thumbnail. The rx100 can't replace my full frame but ok
ОтветитьOne other thing I like about the RX100 I over the VII is that the battery stays charged when it's turned off.
ОтветитьI’d hate to sound ignorant but I couldn’t help but laugh. As a Canadian I thought you were saying Toronto 😂. Great review! Awesome Photos!
ОтветитьThis review brushes over the elephant in the room: phase detect AF. If AF is important, the RX100 V, VA (and ZV-1) become optimal options. Though their stacked sensors eat into some of that precious dynamic range. By the way, as a consequence, this makes the RX100 IV the theoretically worst camera of the range, no phase AF combined with worst dynamic range.
ОтветитьThose black and white photos are gorgeous
ОтветитьJust grabbed the mk3 for less than $150 on ebay! Cheaper than buying a pancake lens for my a7iii and I’ll probably use it more too
ОтветитьI’ve got the mk6 and it’s my main landscape camera these days
ОтветитьGood for retiring photographers who can no longer endure lugging heavy DSLR bodies and several lenses in their backpacks. But want to continue taking photos.
ОтветитьI have the Rx100 and RX100 Vii as well. The key for me on the VII is the audio input. The video of the rx100 is amazing and in low light better than VII. Only issue is mobile phones do as good for travel. My RX100 VII is concert camera. I expect in next couple years flagship phones will be as good or better. And fully agree III better than orig
ОтветитьI have it and have had it since its release. A great and very capable little unit. The controls are a bit finicky if you are trying to do things in the dark. I do want to get the camera that everyone seems to want these days to replace it but am more than happy to wait given I have the rx100.
ОтветитьGreat video! I've been alternating between my RX100M5 and my A7RIV a lot in recent months, and thinking that people who mainly shoot with a standard zoom lens on a full frame body would actually be a lot better off with using an RX100 for that. Incredible piece of kit, absolutely punches above its weight.
As for cropping, I've been able to get Instagram-usable results cropped all the way to 1.5 megapixels!
I've had two of these I think a three and a five I lost track. 90% of my photography is indoors dark with flash. Two flashes have both died on that camera after about a year. I love the size of it. It's a pretty decent camera. And it takes pictures in raw. Love the quality when editing. I need something the same size but I'm afraid to buy a third one and have the same failure. Need recommendations.
ОтветитьPerfect on paper. The RX100 is "fiddley" with a unpleasing interface and user experience and mediocre results. The size is awesome though and the fact that it has a EVF is amazing, or it'd be amazing if it weren't a SONY
ОтветитьThe Sony RX100v7 and the Ricoh GR1 are my everyday carry cameras.
ОтветитьI would get Sony ZV-1 instead of RX100 Mk1. 1" stack sensor and phase AF with eye tracking is a game changer for compact camera.
ОтветитьYes. Great travel cameras. I have the 3 and the 7 (for the 200mm equivalent and way better EVF) but love them both.
ОтветитьI have the VA and a love hate relation ship with it. The quality of the shots are really good but I just do not like to use it. The EVF is not good and everything is too crammed. BUT when I look at the pictures I question myself why I got the Q2.
ОтветитьI don’t like it, it has nothing to do with the functionality. It is simply the size, the small buttons and dials are too small.
ОтветитьI bought the RX100-3 recently, a wonderful compact camera, no match to Full Frame, but better than any point-and-shot. My complain is 70 mm long end, it is not enough, other complain is a flat release bottom, which is difficult to grab when it's needed. This problem I solved by gluing a little bump on the top of it. Camera cost me $32.- on flea market.
