ОтветитьYou are gorgeous and I’m in love with you
ОтветитьYou’re dope!
ОтветитьI’m 60 & leaving my job that I worked for 22 years. The toxicity and burnout is real! I work in management. Especially during the past 3 years, our sr leadership has been brow beating us to work long hours and bring in more revenue by pushing employees to produce more & at the same time they want us to offer measly low pay increases (3 %) , which is a slap in the face for high performing employees. I work for a large healthcare organization in NY. I started pre-planning my “exit” , so I could resign and be financially comfortable. I attended retirement planning classes including social security financial workshops the past 3 years virtually to prepare myself for leaving this hostile workplace environment . The past 10 years I changed my 403 pension plan contributions to accelerate it for the next decade based on my age until retirement. They matched & I am eligible to withdraw at 59 1/2 without penalty ( will of course be required to pay income taxes). I am thankful that I am on my husband’s health insurance plan, which is a major reason why so many older employees stay in miserable jobs a little longer, until they are eligible for Medicare (at 65 or 67 years old depending on days of birth). When I got promoted or bonuses, I never changed and added more debt & expenses. We only have mortgage & car payments and normal expenses to manage a household ( property taxes, car insurance, food, utilities, gas ect). Making sure you don’t have debt and going over all of your expenses & income ratio is very important. I know exactly how much I need to live comfortably and will start a new chapter in my life to be self employed by taking the real estate exam and finding a broker office that I can have a good professional business relationship with. I will also get a part-time remote job to, supplement my income. The best part of this new journey is I can have more flexibility and choices to decide how many hours I will work & can travel more. I am turning in my 4 week notice soon. I will take 2-4 month time off to regroup and reposition my lifestyle. I will transfer part of my pension to a stable IRA account and the other part to mutual annuities account so I can invest my retirement funds. I am eligible to transfer 100% because of being vested due to over 10 years of employment. I will also be eligible to receive a payout of 150 of pto times (over 4 weeks pay). I applaud that so many gen z & millennial young people are willing to walk away (with proper planning ) from their toxic greedy employers and start their own businesses! I wish this was taught to my baby boomer generation! Companies are no longer offering benefits & pension plans of yesterday. They also no longer value employees & their loyalty. That’s why there is so much turnover in every industry today , because the Gen Z & millennial generation are making demands for better pay , remote jobs and working conditions (joining unions)! I appreciate that this young lady is sharing how she was able to quit (resign) to her financial advantage! By the way , I am a hiring manager & a six month gap will not be a “red flag” on her resume. Today most employers know that people got laid off & had special circumstances happen that caused them to leave their jobs the past 3 year pandemic period (deaths in family, company closings, downsizing, child care issues , illness ect ). I only care about the person’s years of experience, professional skill set, if they meet qualifications and if they will fit in with my team (work ethics, integrity ect) . We do behavioral interviews to weed out poor performers. Otherwise she won’t have to worry about the six month gap, especially since she left the job on good terms. Just be prepared to answer the question if asked, with a reasonable believable answer (ex: returned to college for professional growth & development ect). Thanks for the video! 🙂
I’m going to share it with my son.
just saw you on casey neistat's new video!!!! congrats on the marriage haha!!!
ОтветитьHold. Up! Did I just get the news through Casey Neistat that you got married????
ОтветитьDid you get married? I thought I saw you on Casey’s channel
ОтветитьThank you for this video. I have been trying to figure out why I am so burned out! This shed some new light on it for me. 😊
ОтветитьDamn she put 6 months in at VIX 18… GUH /:
ОтветитьGreat video ⭐️
ОтветитьDid I just see you’d got married on a Casey video?
ОтветитьBest thing is to work for yourself. Get the skills and create your own businees.Working for a corporation or any employer is generally slavery now
ОтветитьHow can one handle gaps in employment sicne recruiters are concerened about gaps in empolyment history
ОтветитьGirl I’ll be back in Accra this December!!! Let’s go lol
ОтветитьI quit my job with barely any savings after my mother died.. thank goodness I had support from people within my community. I left for a year and for sure I was financially okay with help from others.. would I recommend it, hell no... but sometimes you just need to get away ..
ОтветитьSaw one of your first videos some years back and just tuned into this one. Congratulations for choosing you and taking time away. After a recent layoff from a Silicon Valley company I've decided to step away from a 25+ year career. Overall it's been wonderful and I'm proud of all I've accomplished but I'm not interested in working for others anymore. I bring in income from several investment portfolios. I teach others how to do the same and I travel. I just got back from Accra, heading to Portugal soon, and thinking about living in South Africa for a stint. Life is good. All the best to you!
ОтветитьGreat video ❤ thank you for this helpful information
Ответить🌺🙏🏾🌺
ОтветитьSo dum
ОтветитьVery prudent planning 👍
ОтветитьYou said you had the option of a 90 day short term disability, did you ever consider trying that before quitting.
ОтветитьI’m down for Lagos and Accra in December!!
ОтветитьI'm a nurse of 29 years. I wanted to take a break also. But of course I need healthcare insurance which is tied to my employer. I decided to change my status to PRN. So now I make my own schedule and work one to two days per week. I was able to keep my coverage at the same cost (not COBRA) because of the number of hours I worked in the previous year. I do pay dental and vision through COBRA.
I have a rental home that is paid for. It covers my current mortgage minus $150. I just started renting a room in my home to a travel nurse. So that income covers that $150 plus utilities, groceries and miscellaneous expenses. So when I do work, it just goes to savings. The one drawback is that my contribution to my retirement account has decreased significantly.
SN: I do have an emergency fund.
You are so smart wow well done 👏👏👏👏👏❤️
ОтветитьI used to work on STD and LTD and it’s really hard to get disability. Most contracts state you have to be disabled. Also, you have to be treating with a provider. Being tired does not make you disabled. Getting state disability in states like NJ is a bit easier to get. But again you have to be under the care of a provider and treat with a provider
ОтветитьSo brave! I’m soon doing the same (i will have 14 months pay during that time) and i will move to cheaper home during that time 👍 great advice in this video
ОтветитьYou are always dropping gems on your channel. Thank you so much. I am trying to not burn myself as an engineer, but I am finding myself wanting to program drones or bots lol
Congrats on your sabbatical!!
Hi! Where did you get your top?? It is so cute!
ОтветитьCongrats to quitting! Taking time off is different from being fired; applicants should be able to clearly explain gaps in employment.
ОтветитьThis is an excellent video! Thank you for sharing.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing! This is motivating and I absolutely love seeing young intelligent black women LIVING!!!❤🙌🏾
ОтветитьLove the new twist in your videos! Fatima's tips are the best 😂
ОтветитьI love seeing this and that there are people who can do this(I ain’t one but i can dream lol). Those 2 weeks paid vacation time is no enough to deal with burnout.
ОтветитьI’ve heard of doctors and lawyers leaving their jobs bc no motivation or desire to do it anymore…or to do content creation. It really makes you think that ai will take over bc humans don’t want to do careers anymore🤷🏽♀️We will soon walk outside with a bunch of ai’s everywhere.
ОтветитьI really appreciate this video especially the healthcare section. I was about to buckle down and start researching from nothing, but then I found your video😍😍😍😍 thanks!! ❤️❤️💪🏾 we got this 🎉 I'm planning for 3 months
ОтветитьOMG I WANT TO GO TO JAPAN WITH YOU 😭 I'll find you on linkedin (sometime before October as of now right?)
ОтветитьI took a break as well. You can get free insurance. Medicare will approve you. I also was add the max to my HSA. Always opt for HSA for single healthy individuals
My last month, I did all of my check ups 😂😂. So Medicare is only for my peace of mind
I put my funds into a CD as well. I am getting $300 in monthly interest. 😊. Take a break is so doable
i spent 10 years saving for this and i'm getting cold feet. damn it
ОтветитьWhat is life without living.
ОтветитьI’m planning to take a 6 - 12 months sabbatical next year. Thanks for sharing how you planned for your career break.
ОтветитьHealth insurance is a scam. You are a young healthy person, you definitely for sure do not need health insurance
ОтветитьThis lady is highly intelligent. Listen to how she speaks OMG. Go girl. You are beautiful and smart, talented!
ОтветитьI love how grounded and methodical you are as a person. So inspirational!!
ОтветитьNo debt? How did you do that?
ОтветитьTake a 'leave of absence' from your job if it's an option. You would have a job to go back to and that unknown would not be an issue.
ОтветитьI’m f someone has the financial security to quit their job, then they wouldn’t have any doubts about quitting. This is the number one reason why people don’t quit.
ОтветитьBukola, love your videos!!!! Would you be willing to expound on where you put your savings while preparing for your sabbatical? Of course not as a financial advisor but just to give us different options on places and which financial vehicles you used to help save. Thanks and keep the videos coming
ОтветитьWelcome back! I’m not a financial advisor but this is the planning I did for my sabbatical! There is Q&A at the end :)
