i think it depends of the machine.I have nvidia 2gb.8 gigas ram.motherboard bought in china( a big shit) and intel 7 old. and ssd hard disk. Manjaro and opensuse are the best for me. I cant install Fedora 😢. I have to change my motherboard and cpu and install my favorite: Fedora.

My choices for the past year and a half: Manjaro - Daily Driver, MX Linux - on main Laptop, Gecko Linux and CachyOS - dual booting on my desktop.

I spent 2 years distro-hopping and learned a lot...then I landed on Arch based distros. Wow, I tried Manjaro wow! - then I tried Endeavour OS even wower!! I was hooked so I tried and I failed and I tried again until finally I managed to install Arch Linux and this is where I live now. With Arch YOU build your system, you choose your Bluetooth service, desktop / Window manager, network manager. You set up the system bit by bit and so you know exactly what you have. Pacman and the AUR are so, so much better than apt and having random ppa's all over the place. I really like Ubuntu and Fedora but for me, Arch is home.

yes yes and all that mambo jambo make linux suck. there should be only one linux OS then ubuntu is just wallpaper and ubuntus features. bcoz its based on debian alpha beta testing go for debian stable insted LOL
OR build your own. yes it will be yet again another "distro" even you not relieze it. it will based on debian if use their AWESOME tools.
pick what you want and hit enter kinda that easy., but not quite. you just enter series of command to build your own system. kinda from scratch.
couple explamples you see how things done and you can pick things you like and install them same way.
after you make it many times. you can put all those command on script and do every thing same time.
linux updates every week. every time its plausable system not boot. you need NAS hold all your files. linux is allways easy freesh install.
windows is easy fix. linux is allways harder and all helps commands is like. what heck could this work you not sure.. if you have bit different"distro" it wont work LOL
windows is allways just one system and you can add to it many things and make it look like another. same as distros and diff wallpaper arte LOL
im not install win11 bcoz win10 work and win12 comes. if win12 have still ADS and spying. i may start using linux 1st machine _LOL

if someday there is change linux OS and ubuntu theme debian theme etc. i go for it.
every linux should have exact folder structure all commans should work every system. now they work only if based on something like debian
linux never be number 1 desktop pc. its allways be just server and virtual machine test when have time.

i did a little research, and found out that fedora 38 WS is what i really need. Stable, fast, gorgeus gnome UI, built on latest kernel, with frequent updates...excelent for gaming via steam..all new hardware autom. detect..what more do i want from OS :D p.s. i was a windows user from a start lol..

MX Linux is by far ugliest default GUI but it just flies on 10+ year old laptop with SSD. It has fastest installation along with proprietary drivers. Arch based distros invariably show better speed.

My second laptop runs MX Linux and I highly recommend it: stable, smooth and quick, haven't had a problem in a year. And I love the community and the spirit, to me it feels like: If people are hungry, dont give them a fish, give them a net

Linux is the best linux distro. I always recommend it newcommers. But you forgot OpenSUSE.

as a new user coming from windows the distos that interest me most are: Fedora, KDE neon, Kubuntu, Zorin, Mx, Pop, and Mint.

I see you saved the best for last. I've used Linux Mint since Release 15.0 and am currently running Linux Mint 20.1. My system runs perfectly. I've tried Fedora, Ubuntu, OpenSuse and a few other Distros but Linux Mint was the best for my Dell Inspiron. Just sayin'.

There is no one linux distro that fits them all. There are distros better suited for older computers, for low-spec computers, for high-end computers, for gaming computers, and so on. When presenting the "best" linux distro, present one distro for each type/catagory of computer, at least this would be the way I would do it.

Funny how reviewers keep missing Slackware, the gold standard for, configurability, stability and control in the Linux world. And it's as fast as anything. Mint in the top spot -- saw that one coming from a mile away.

Well, for the moment Sparky Linux is the best distro for me.

I think MX Linux should really make a glorified LXQt + Kwin spin to keep it's light weight and make it look 100x better.

I float between Mint and Zorin. They seem to do what I need without having to command-line-warrior them into shape.
