Happened to me. Guy asked me what route i was on so i told him. He said ok, ill go this way then. Lol. I felt completely insignificant after that.

What a fool. If you are into free soloing, fine, but choose a route that is open. I think that's true with all climbing. I would have made him wait

What an idiot. If you're going to be stupid enough to free solo something like that, that's totally your decision. But to do it over top of someone else, now putting them at risk, is just negligent.

It's amazing how quick he climbs, doesn't take time to make sure each hold is good and each foot is secure like I would. Suppose quickness is important in free soloing

Who is he? Who knows. Just like Marc Andre-Leclerc. Just like Alex Honnold for over a decade before the movie. People would just hear about a climb he did through word of mouth. That's what is so amazing about most free soloists. They do it for them and could care less if anyone knew. I gotta be honest, if I could do something that extraordinary, I would hope the national news would cover it and plaster my face on billboards so I could revel in the glory. 😂 People like this guy amaze me.

Truly impressive. You should have got some good idea from watching him on how to hurry on up the rock face though.

4 pitch 5.8 route, which is a "moderate" rating. i climb, but never free solo. for a very good climber, this is not difficult physically. nice work.

I think this is completely irresponsible and disrespectful to climb a route where people are currently climbing. Regardless of how "easy" the route is or how badass or confident you think you are, mistakes happen. I believe that every notable free solo climber has eventually fallen to his death. If this guy were to fall with climbers below him, it would be disastrous for those climbers as well. In the video, you actually see the roped climber move over from under him as the free soloist climbs a slight overhang and smoother section. Smart.

This Free Solo Climber is a Man of Focus…Commitment and Sheer Will.

I am not impressed. Those are the guys who do not get old and leave behind a family mourning. It is a kind of ignorance for the nature. The nature of possible mistakes, of mistakes that happen only once to you. This is not intelligent, this is not respectful, this is foolishly asking for trouble, no matter how skilled one is. Playing with one`s life is mad.

Respect for the craft... but fuck that.
