Planner 101 // How to Decorate Your First Planner Spread // Classic Happy Planner

Just finished my first spread. It was HARD, but I like it. I wish I'd seen this first though.

Good information. I'm inspired to style next weeks pages. I used to be nervous to put a sticker down, but I have a friend who had a big bag of planner stickers. She gave them to me and told me to get on it. That was back in February of 2020. Bless that woman. Making my planner pretty has kept me using it day to day. Keep spreading the love

Loving your layering ideas & tip to cut out ‘boxes’ that are left in the sticker books! I may try that since I don’t have many box stickers

Thanks for video! I’m completely new to happy planner and planning in general. I appreciate this beginner content because honestly I’m 99.9% left brained and this feels like a foreign language to me. To put it in perspective, I work a corporate job and use lined horizontal weekly planners. Stickers in a planner seemed odd to me. I was told to look into happy planner bc I need something customizable . anyhow I’m looking forward to learning to express some creativity.

I have anxiety from this video! Why you put squares for specific dates & times between two calendar days is baffling! If working 12-5 Monday, putting part of the sticker for it in Tuesday is senseless. If it works for you, great, but telling new users to jumble dates is strange. It seems to defeat the purpose of a planner.

What type of pen or marker would you use to avoid smearing when writing on a sticker?

I am a happy planner Virgin. Bought my first one today. Don't know why I waited so long to get on board the happy planner wagon. Anyway, this was super helpful. Some layouts are so involved I just don't know where to start. This was great, thanks!

I just bought my first happy planner (in Hobby Lobby 40% off sale) last week starting in July. I started with Bullet Journaling, then I was introduced to Erin Condren (used her for 3 years which I loved), then used Plum Paper for 2020 because EC is just too expensive. Now I can't wait to start my new planner! Thanks for the tips!

Just bought mine. I've watched a lit of tutorials. Then decided to just get started. Absolute first thing is.. what are those little tabs you use before you decorate? Are they just reminders for what you will write in later?

What is important for newbies to know is that by using these stickers we are almost guaranteed an attractive layout if we stay within a certain color range. These stickers are designed to look good together. Also, most of us need functionality in our planners. Reminding us that we need white space for planning our lives is key to having a successful planner. When our planners are closed, people will remember if we showed up on time. However, the low level music you had playing through the whole video was... 😬😬😬 I felt like I’d been placed on hold by the doctor’s office and was stuck listening to their two minutes of hold music on endless repeat.

It was hard bc I felt like I was learning So Much from you, but at the same time, being tortured by the hold music on repeat. Is this something you’ve thought about dropping from your videos? sad eyes

Ok so this is going to sound ridiculous, but I don't know any Kim's either and right when you were trying to figure out what to write on the birthday box, I said outloud "Kim's birthday" and that's what you wrote. I have a planner just for decorating and one for just pen and functional planning. My brain doesn't allow for both in one planner.

This is my 2nd year using a HP, but my 1st using a vertical. I felt like I always had too much space and not enough at the same time, so I decided to change. Your tips are always very useful, especially the outlines. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us. Tfs 😊
