ОтветитьOn the contrary the brain is the good guy. Not being able to function, do math calculations, coordinate your hands..it s not a system failure, its the brain intervening.
But it is done because the body needs it, it part of the deal, the package. Big mammals have this much more, rodents are very active and don t sleep so much for example. Its a metabolsim slash efficiency thing. Totally not-efficient mammals do relatively well with lack of sleep, animals who do the efficiency thing aren t. A black bear can in fact die, when you hinder it in his hybernate sleep months..
I don't believe a word of it and certainly ignore what science says about how much sleep people need , I am living proof they are wrong in my case anyway . For many years I have not had anything near what science says is a good sleep and Iv never been more alert and full of energy , for about 7 years I was only resting 2 hrs every 24hr and at 52yo I did my own personal best time for olympic triathlon on zero sleep the night before running the 10km leg in 45min . Just to prove my point after a short search among the comments here I did not find anyone else who picked up on the fact that the video voice over is saying ''number 1'' when it is clear there is a number 2 on the video screen just before the speaker asks ''are you paying full attention'' at 26sec mark . wakey wakey

ОтветитьAccording to my FitBit watch, I slept for an average of 6 hours and 10 minutes per night during 2022.
So far in 2023 that has gone down to 5 hours and 46 minutes. And, those numbers look accurate.
Me not having slept for a day: notices the typo on the being less alert bit (the 1 is a 2 idk if this is intended or not lol)

ОтветитьWhen I was 18 I had three jobs for two months, one 7 days a week, one 6 and one 5. So I could only sleep on Saturdays and Sundays when my girlfriend wasn't overly happy that I fell asleep on top of her. Bought my first car as a result and slept for more than a few days straight after that.
Since then I have noticed that doing work like construction (high physical, lower mental) lets me sleep only four hours, but if I do software development (no physical, more mental) I do best if I sleep ten to twelve hours, during which time I dream about what I am working on and when I get up it just flows out of my fingertips without me being very consciously aware of all the details.
I to relate all the symptoms mentioned in the video and lack of sleep also effected my health, immunity power decreased. Iam suffering with insomnia from 3 years 😭.

ОтветитьHm, well without sleep I actually do forget stuff but my motor functions work fine and the only thing that disperses was my emotions leaving me in a neutral emotional state. Is that a bad thing?

ОтветитьEven though I myself am sleep deprived, I find a sick irony in the fact that an army institute of research did a study on sense of humor, showed participants (presumably military) simple jokes, and that "their understanding of the jokes was far below a average".
