Jung Hwan always loved her. Due to their friendship he was reluctant. The type of friendship she had with Jung was different than Taek which made it easier for her to be the one to always approach Taek the way she did. She never did that with Jung because of the way their friendship was always that of her being one of the boys. Taek was there but not as much which allowed her the freedom to be open differently to him. Both her and Jung didn't know how to express their feelings because they always picked on each other. She also gave Taek the courage he needed to approach her without fear because she treated him differently and she also told him he was her future husband.

I just finished watching Reply 1988. It was absolutely wonderful! And I loved it more and more as it went along. I loved all the relationships and love stories as they developed over the years. Taek’s love for Deuk-Sun is definitely very, very special. I’m so glad that I finally watched this amazing KDrama!!!

I think psychologically taek needs someone like bok sun more than jung hwan. Jung hwan is pretty much a guy who can take care of himself and manage his emotion while taek coudn’ttake care of himself as good as jung hwan. Taek is quite dull and too sensitive. Imagine him having a heartache n heartbreak while having enough problem with allthe medcine he took n he cant stop either. While bok sun is sensitive towards the environment. She is smart to take care people around him. Hence, i stand for bok sun n taeks relationship :)
