The Most Advanced Earbuds? Sony WF-1000XM4 Review!

Mine broke after about 2 years of very light use. The battery won't hold its charge anymore. So no, I wouldn't recommend it. Get the wh-xm4 or xm5, they are very good, but if you want ear buds, just get cheap ones.

WOW THESE HEADPHONES ARE BAD maybe defective but wow got at best buy loud metallic sounds during voice on left phone more than right and when you shake your head popping sounds with sound off like something loose inside, 1 of the battery's are draining faster, when you push the right headphone it pauses SO WHY TF would it pause when you take one headphone out??? i need to keep hearing something but want to take my one earphone out??? these have low volume on max ambient sound and noise canceling is not as good as Samsung buds pro, the automatic functions are a joke and adjusts the volume randomly and make ambient sound quieter and quieter and when i talk it goes into noise canceling in default mode, EQ and interface is slow and counterintuitive

My only gripe with these are the foam tips sort of "peel" over time. But they haven't changed in audio quality. Hopefully they'll fix this issue with the next generation. The ANC with these are... God Tier!

DON'T BUY SONY BUDS! My WF-1000XM4 have NEVER given more than an hour of listening. I typically accept any glitches that occur are on my end. But also expect professional, helpful support for WELL RATED, BUT EXPENSIVE product. I own working products - Walkman, an old point n shoot, two Vaios. BUT THESE BUDS AND SUPPORT HAVE BEEN HORRIFIC. I'm not a technophile, I always blame old age and unfamiliarity, not the product. BUT after a half dozen calls over a year, I threw in the towel. First, SONY won't send anything to our business U.S.P.S. Box! We're in a rural community and boxes typically get damaged or picked. Yet, a) SONY will not allow communication with U.S. reps - only Central Amer or Phillipines. Lovely folk, but claim unable to enable U.S. contacts. HOURS wasted. Just followed their Chat tutorial and R bud battery dead after 20 minutes - after "100% charged; Left went ten minutes later. DO NOT BUY.

I think the Bose quite comfort II are better at noise cancelling.

Great review, indeed. Just got these and previously I was using the Wh-1000X3. Man, they sound incredible. I don't have any complaints about them. Absolutely amazing.

What I want to know is can these earbuds be used independently? Can I keep one bud in the case and use the other then switch them out and use the other bud independently while the other charges?

I absolutely love mine! I love how it switches from noise cancellation to Ambient noise when I start talking and returns to music after 5 seconds or however long you want it to return to Noise Cancelling/ Music. The sound is up there with my over the head Sony XB-900 and that's saying a lot cause those batboys put out some serious Bass!

No lie i left my Samsung buds for these and it was A MAJOR upgrade. Much more punchy and ruch sound. (Also i switched out the foam tips, others fit more comfortably for me)

I know I’m a bit late on commenting on this since you released the video, but I would go with the silicone ones over the ones that Sony provides.

Just got these on a Christmas sale for $178. Really excited for them to get delivered.

I am watching this with these earbuds actually, just thought I would see other peoples opinions. I really enjoy them and are super comfy once you’ve adjusted. Do agree with the struggle to lay on them and still feel comfortable when trying to fall to sleep. And the technology, amazing, especially linked up with google, they are just so advanced. 9.5/10

Beware the "metal ping" sound in the WF-1000XM4s. Research it before pulling the trigger on buying a pair. I got sucked into the $100 off deal thats going on right now. I feel like I got fooled by Sony, even though I just went for a typical holiday deal.

The sound is great BUT within a year, I had to send both earbuds back to the Service Centre. Why? Because the battery would drain off within an hour! So, what happens after the warranty period? You would have to pay for this defect. Let the buyer beware!!

I'm a Sony guy and most of my products are Sony bcoz they are great. Used these for about a year and everything was excellect, the sound quality and the ANC was mind blowing. The only downside which i think is quite important to me is that :
1) call quality decent in quiet environments but the moment u go outdoor that's where it gets bad. ALL the time the person i'm speaking to couldn't hear me clearly and it picks up so much noise so i end up taking it out and held my phone on my ear.
2) weidrly sound is excellent but the moment u increase the volume above 60% the bass decrease and music becomes flat. I thought i had a defective set but when i go to Sony to have it checked the lady told me it's normal as it's part of a safety feature to protect your ear.
These 2 flaws are really a bummer and important to me, love these buds but no choice and sadly i have to sell it away. Now i bought the MTW3, not the best in terms of ANC but at least it works perfectly as an all rounder.

Best earbuds on the market. Listening to each song is like a completely new experience each time, it's magical really. Sony knows earbuds and headphones, period.

I was hoping he covered the audio quality when it comes to talking on the phone. I noticed that the previous version (1000XM3) was absolutely HORRIBLE when making calls. I could hear the person perfectly, however they could hear all the background noise around me except for ME, which was ridiculous. And the person would point out that they could hear all the sounds that I couldn't even hear myself that was around me. I thought this was just maybe my own isolated issue, but my best friend bought the exact same headphones and experienced the same problems. I'd always have to tell the person I'd call them back because unless I was talking loudly or practically yelling, they could barely hear me. Hopefully this model fixes that issue. Btw the Sony's were always easy to connect with Android, I've had both the WF 1000XM3 & WH 1000XM3 since release and both were able to connect smoothly. The $279 price tag was also the price of the previous version, too.

I am travelling and I forgot my AirPod Pros.
I bought the Sonys today and I am so pleased with them straight out of the box.
I have been using them with my IPhone 13 with Apple Music and they are far superior to the AirPods.

I just bought these earbuds and I know everyone is hyping these up. Maybe this feedback will help:
1.) If the buds feel uncomfy at first, put on the smaller earplugs and pinch the tip before putting it in (that's what she said)
2.) when listening to podcasts, a weird noise happens with them. Almost like a high pitch note being played.

I bought a set of Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro yesterday, which sounded fantastic but they will only pair with 2 devices at once that have their app on the devices, and I was trying to pair them to my vehicle stereo head unit. So I took them back today and got a set of these for $80 more.... wah wah. The Sony's sound is meh compared to the Liberty 3's and the Sony app is no where near as user friendly and has A LOT of privacy invading features. Like seriously, why do ear buds need to know where I am geographically, or why do they need to listen in to my conversations and report back to Sony on my habits? I'm not going to tell anybody what to buy, but if you only connect your buds to a phone/tablet etc, you might check out the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro's. I really liked them and would have kept them if I could have connected them to my vehicle.

Truth is you never get the advertised 8 hours of battery life from these earbuds because if you have finished listening with them and DON'T then immediately place them back into the charging port box the buds drain battery like CRAZY. I left my earbuds on the side over night and they were both at 90% at night, by the morning they had drained to 20% each! It's a huge design floor.

Just ordered a pair! Already got the big xm5 headphones that cost like £400 and I LOVE them! But need something smaller for work when active more so these are perfect
