I learned blender VSE through youtube videos. Unfortunately there are many things I had to learn the hard way that just weren't mentioned in the videos I watched. So this is my iteration of a tutorial video explaining the basics with those little caveats so you hopefully don't repeat my mistakes. Focus is on functional understanding rather than technical.

What is Blender? Where do I get Blender?

If you think this video fulfills its purpose as stated in the title, please leave a like so other people know its not gonna be a waste of their time.

If you want more videos like this let me know. Or if you rather have videos showing existing projects and how things were done, let me know. I can ramble about the hidden citrus abridged stuff all day. I'll do something about the sibilance for future videos, kinda annoying.

If you want to subscribe, great! Just note I post amv and anime abridgments here, so don't be angry if those pop up in ur feed :(

I will followup with a quick 10 minute video tutorial on masking in blender and some other little things you might find useful. Will cover 4 masking examples and the techniques you can use. I'll include the stuff I mention in the comments below in the video as well, briefly.

If you want to see the stuff I've made in blender vse using the stuff I explained you can check the channel. From the oldest to the newest, you can see my journey through learning the stuff I mention here, it might help you out by seeing things in action and creating a timeline to improve at a much faster rate than I have.

Want more guides? I suggest doing this stuff, it will ALL help you learn making videos in the VSE:

Mikey Cal's series on blender VSE (a well-paced series I very much loved to use, it lacks some crucial things, but between this and mine you should be good)
