I use your shirt to seed my random number generator.
ОтветитьI've been using helix, a neovim alternative in Rust, and I'm very happy with it. The transition from neovim wasn't easy but I prefer the defaults in helix, plus it has almost all the features I want from my editor out of the box without having to install a dozen plugins which I really appreciate!
Ответитьfrontend editor without plugins will always suck
Ответитьquick-lint-js doesn't do anything vscode doesn't. Maybe it's an older plugin and now vscode just supports it natively
ОтветитьI'm trying out Zed with a REALLY large codebase and the performance difference compared to VS Code is significant. Zed is orders of magnitude faster when doing file search and intellisense suggestions and I haven't had the typescript language server crash a single time.
Ответитьhow is vscode not feeling local? I honestly cant notice the difference . If no one tells me, I wont even know it is an Electron app
Ответитьbut its not on linux :(
Ответитьthe great thing about vscode it`s it plugin ecosystem, not having that will limit their growth exponentially
ОтветитьWhen I was learning on my own I used VScode because it was so prolifically mentioned everywhere and the plugins were helpful for my vision, but when I went to college they had us use Sublime and I definitely felt the performance you mentioned. I will have to take a look at Zed and would love to see you cover more things like this!
ОтветитьI love Zed. Been using the Preview (not Beta) for months now and it’s so fast and beautiful. My needs are light: HTML, CSS, and a sprinkling of PHP so I am more than happy for its current state and look forward to seeing it evolve.
ОтветитьEvil Emacs forever!!!!!
ОтветитьThe reason it can actually succeed is the GPL, and because it's copyleft not the standard Open Source. I had interesting views and opinions on open source licensing would be good if you make a video. Gpl has its minuses but.. is the closest thing to my views. That's why at one point i started releasing under MPL2. Apache 2 must be the norm at least.
Ответить>only available for macOs, the gay OS
>built in a language famously used by trannies
>offers nothing new besides the "WE ARE NOT JAVASCRIPT, WE ARE RUST!!"
Another failed attempt to dethrone vscode
what's with the r3t@rded pics bro
ОтветитьMac OS only IDE is not going to kill any other IDE.
ОтветитьFound out it’s mac only. Immediately lost interest about this crap. Back to nvim for me.
ОтветитьKilling VS Code by going Mac only. Yeah, good luck with that.
ОтветитьUntil it's available for Windows it's a lol Killer.
ОтветитьAtom sucked, it was slow and sluggish. Zed too late to the party, VSCode does everything I need it to do, and it doesn't feel slow of like a browser. I rather go with a proven IDE like VSCode, until they messed it up.
ОтветитьAGPL isn't 'Apache' GPL - it's Affero GPL, which closes the SaaS loophole of the GPL...
ОтветитьI still use Sublime Text for general text editing even though I have VS Code setup for code editing.
ОтветитьYou lost me at "they built Electron and Atom", I'll skip but looks cool.
ОтветитьHey Theo, i have had the same issue with the vs code (code ) CLI and you mentioned you made a custom implimentation for the CLI, seems lazy for me to ask but would you be kind enough to share it ? Thanks : )
ОтветитьOnly Mac? What a let down. Rust seamlessly compiles to wasm, why focusing on Mac only?
Ответить*checks website*
"Requires macOS 10.15+"
*looses interest*
He´s my fav League of Legend champion
ОтветитьPrimagen mentioned, I watch
ОтветитьSeems cool, but I'm not buying a mac just to use it
ОтветитьIs it only for mac?
Ответить"VS Code Killer"
"Look at all these features i hate!"
....
I think that's leptos code - WASM.
Oh, I see, never mind - it's GPUI, lol.
Likely wasm though.
"Mac users are going to be the majority" HAHAHAHA
Listening further, it seems like every point you mention is a bit disingenuous. "Does that look like a source control icon?" No, it looks like a files icon because files are easily represented by trees and VSCode's source control icon actually represents branching.
It feels so weird to listen to you lying about something that you are filming literally being false... Why?
Why Mac only?
ОтветитьI came here just to dislike the video. Nothing is a "killer" so early.
ОтветитьDoes anyone knows when the Yasuo editor will come up?
ОтветитьHappily using Panic's Nova editor.
ОтветитьMacOS only? I didn't just kill VSCode it also killed itself...
Ответитьan ide that doesn't even have an installer for linux. wtf
Ответитьno Windows? :(
ОтветитьSo, Zed sponsored you?
ОтветитьIt's fast, but it's the only thing it has for now. It lacks a thousand basic functionalities that VSC brings by default, things as simple as being able to search for a file by name with spaces in the middle and not having to write the exact file name, it's crazy that this does not work like this for example. There's still a long way to go to even think about competing with VSC.
ОтветитьI had to buy a GPU to render that shirt
ОтветитьMac> Ha-ha.
ОтветитьDownloaded to give it a try and I like that CoPilot is available in it and the searching for a word throughout the project was mega…
Ответить> Mac users are gonna be the majority of users anyways
... ? what? I really don't understand at which point in time people began to think developing on apple devices was even remotely feasable... It's a shit fucking operating system for literal boomers and retards who get scared at the mere sight of a console window...
IntelliJ is also open source. Point dismissed
ОтветитьI never liked this guy, not sure why, he transmits a stressful vibe. Maybe it's the moustache
ОтветитьL clickbait thumbnail
ОтветитьClickbait to compare it to VS Code when it's not available for Windows.
Ответить
