How could this possibly provide protection from hail?

I would like one ,but no way to check out and pay

Just got mine in the mail today. The stitching quality is superb. My only gripe is that it's not elastic all the way around the edge to give it that tight snug fit. And the strap could be better stitch on one side to prevent theft. The lock that came with it, just does not seem like a good lock. Anyone can just unlock it if they're persistence enough 3combination lock are easy to crack open. I'll just get those keylock type for more secured locktheft.

Will this help against golf ball sized hail? I live in Montana and every spring we get hail storms and they often require body work to fix the damage they cause.

How do I install the steel cable and lock?

I do not recommend. I live in North Texas where the weather can get pretty dicey. So I bought a brand new seal skin cover for my gmc sierra. I put it on Friday evening with the anticipation of bad weather. By 4am Saturday morning, it was wrapped around my ball hitch. The straps had busted. I called about the "lifetime warranty" but was told that it only covers leaks. Not straps. Now, I'm not a meteorologist, but strong winds usually accompany hail. I was going to buy a new one because I bought a leer camper shell for my truck but I think I'll look elsewhere. If you're wanting something to protect from hail, make sure you're in a wind free hail storm.

I was given a seal skin cover for Christmas at it leaks like a sieve !
