Thank you for introducing me to Govan. I had a Shelby Cobra prototype barnfind myself a few years ago. I made a chart on RYM for 1978 jazz and checked out some of the stuff I had never heard of before. Then when I checked out this group called Bella Band, I was dumbfounded at how magnificent their music was. I have never been able to find out much about this group other than they are Italian and seem to have only produced one mind blowing album.
ОтветитьNice work Rick. Bang on. Guthrie is the greatest.
ОтветитьGuthrie - is other level, hands down
ОтветитьProud to be a muso from Chelmsford right now :)
ОтветитьHave you seen Guthrie Govan on Vigier's guitar videos, have a look
ОтветитьAbsolute Masterclass Rick! Overload on inspiration! Wow. Thank you!
ОтветитьHis Piece - Where we Started is on repeat for weeks now. Help!
ОтветитьNo one talks about G.G’s vibrato.
ОтветитьGood video.
ОтветитьThis is a great idea for new series of episodes! But can I ask one question? Can the next 45 episodes all be Guthrie Govan? 😁
ОтветитьThat PRS you have sounds really good! What kind of pickups are those?
Ответитьi have always suspected that guthrie's playing in these backing tracks were improvisational playing. but when rick says it i know i have confirmed it.
ОтветитьGuthrie gives you this false hope by having stuff that is fairly playable and then destroys your soul the next bar. Mental.
ОтветитьGuthrie is this generations goat guitarist. By far.. he's the best.
ОтветитьMy guitars are redundant because of Guthrie.
ОтветитьJesus! Rick you can fn rip too. Thankyou
ОтветитьI think matteo mancuso comes pretty close in terms of tequnique......may not quite the vocabulary though....imho
ОтветитьIt would be interesting to know his educational/music background.
ОтветитьRick please make another one where Guthrie played the Carlton solo I beg you
ОтветитьRick, would you ever consider doing a video on Ron Thal? I hold him in similar esteem as I hold Guthrie
ОтветитьWE NEED AN INTERVIEW.
ОтветитьI love his playing. Not a fan of his tone preferences though. Such a precise player. His finger dexterity is world class athletic.
ОтветитьTALKING about Parenting...: Rick, Ive got mixed feelings about this: I turned to be a musician with my parents pointing me to their direction, each of them different..................,
Rick, Im Kimmo 57 old guy guitar guy, no kids so who am I to critique parenting, sorry, and the baby was baby age, hows the baby now? and, my father did work at a television company in Finland and had access to National tape recorder, and I faintly recall it having a tape of 4 ( somehow 4) Tom Jones songs, and GRADUALly I made a promise to myself to : learn English and to sing, which I did, so there!
At my mothers deathbed she asked for my kid bro ns wife, I was there with my father, my father treating me like a child,
I think I understand now why...
LIFE is truly one big whirly path to DEATH, and MEMYSELFANDI m still stickin to my guitars, taking care of them and me I guess, and listening to wisdom from Ya Ricky Baby ( sorry bout dat...),
Music For You , and LOVE......................, K
Guthrie must've come to earth on a spaceship because no mortal man should be able to play like that, and improvise all of it. He blows my mind.
ОтветитьWhat guitar is Rick playing here?
ОтветитьWho thinks of this stuff 😳incredible stuff
ОтветитьI came across Guthrie through you Months ago Rick… just want to thank you! Guthrie is just a phenomenal guitarist, but what I also appreciate is he goes back down to the very foundations of playing and he has lessons that help the intermediate or even beginner player… On top of that he is very funny, I love his dry sense of humor! Again, THANK YOU RICK and THANK YOU GUTHRIE! 🎸
ОтветитьCheck out Direct Injection or Bottom Line, from the greatest rock fusion player of all time, Greg Howe. He shows this concept in every single tune we wrote and performed. One of Guthries big influences
ОтветитьThe only time Guthrie tried to sweep pick...Chernobyl happened
ОтветитьAwesome breakdown.
ОтветитьHis name Guthrie is from Woody Guthrie?😮
ОтветитьI swear, if i don't live to experience an in dept interview with Rick and Guthrie, i blame you God!
ОтветитьThis is one of my favorite videos from you, pleaseeee do more videos on Guthrie! Learning fives, uncle skunk, and waves right now! This gets me inspired and amped to learn more! It's not exactly easy stuff haha
ОтветитьFirst time I heard Erotic cakes was on a playlist while I was out on a bike ride and I had to stop to figure out what the hell I was listening to.
ОтветитьRick Piano...love it
ОтветитьWhen are you going to interview him!?
ОтветитьThere is some excellent differentiation here, between noodling and phrasing. I had never heard of "caps" before. Deliberately putting in phrasing "periods" is a certain mark of the player saying "I hate noodling; here's a breath-stop." This makes the phrasing more like singing. Chris Buck has said guitar phrases need to sound like singing. But I have not thought to check if he is adding phrasing-stops. It seems like an expressive bend-lift can serve as a fading-cap/breath-stop.
ОтветитьJust heard him live with the Aristocrats Last Friday. All I can say is the magic is Real. GG is the real deal totally unique and the best thin* to happen to the instrument since EVH.
ОтветитьI'm a guitar player. When i listen something played by Guthrie Govan i'm just a guy who puts his fingers on strings. I tried to learn something from him, knowing that i wouldn't ever be able to play it like him. STILL i improved a lot just by trying.
ОтветитьInside of HENDRIX🫠
ОтветитьHe's been a seriously good player for a long time. Way back in the 90s I used to see tuition pieces from him in UK guitar magazines.
Excellent teacher too with a lovely calm demeanor.
First chord is B dom 7, its a dominant 7 blues but still a great video
Ответитьjack gardiner is about there
ОтветитьRick, I beg you. Please make more of these videos focusing on Govan’s improvs. He’s the most interesting guitarist on the planet. This video is amazing and so helpful. Pretty please??🙏
ОтветитьThat's like Eminem. He wrote every freestyle down a million times he just pulled it out like scales at a freestyle. It's not amazing it's discipline and repetition you like me learned lazy
ОтветитьHey Rick, what do you think about Danny Gatton?
ОтветитьI haven't seen a parasitic rick beato video in some years now, and I didn't even know that this was going to be one... I just saw a picture of Guthrie Govan, and I clicked, and here he is again .... rick beato sponging off of the artistry of other people, under the guise of "teaching," but really just trying to prove that he's as great as the greats, by naming every fucking chord and every fucking note being played.... Soooooo.......... TRITE..... AND SO PHONY!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьProbably the most important work since Beano and then Page. Thankfully we have a translator to help us understand. "All that is just ridiculous" is about the most apt description, just deliciously ridiculous, every note and inflection, and the speed, good lord...
