honestly if i hadn't already played genshin before tof i would have thought the game is very good and interesting
but after genshin its like i have finally found my type of game i had like to play my entire life
i like pretty aesthetics and characters and as a student and f2p i am a casual player
so nothing satisfies me anymore
but i encourage u to check it out once

This game is a mix of genshin impact and honkai impact even the characters look almost the same xDDD

Just my thoughts of both games, genshin vs tof. Also FYI, I am a 1 year plus genshin player and I make it a point to play it everyday and even buying some of the fanmade/official merchandise of the characters. I was fully in love with the game and even introduced the game to many people. However there are many things that Genshin is lacking.

1. The co-op doesn't feel like co-op. You can only co-op with other 3 people and it's really really lacking. Just a individual game it feels.
2. When it comes to story, both Genshin and TOF sucks at it while Genshin only win by a bit. After all what do you expect from a gacha game idk.
3. Some of the quest from Genshin is really boring, like Ayato's story quest, etc. Who cares? In terms of the main story, it is progressing so slowly. Literally 2 years and we only met the twin for how many times?
4. Exploration is a pain. Puzzles are made too difficult for temporary islands as well. Puzzles from new areas gets more and more complexed. And its super unfriendly to people who have work/school and other commitments to spend so much time on solving a puzzle, i might as well play a puzzle game right. Most of the time, guide is necessary and the electroculus and chests are so hard to find, you really need a guide whereas for TOF, you can use relics and don't have to be like oh i don't have kazuha to go higher, don't have venti, don't have zhongli. In Tof, there's also vehicles and its really cool and easy to move around though there's lesser waypoints yes. Additionally, the exploration points and supply pod is automatically mark for you in the map when you get close to the area.
5. The most lacking part is probably a guild feature. Many games have guild/crew/clan or whatever you call it, but in Genshin there is none.

Now, tof does have more content as well, the wormhole, the bygone, the joint operations, the training, and of course PVP. It also allows you to customize your own avatar and it is really flexible.

Pity wise... for standard characters are really great because you can max out the characters unlike genshin, I still don't have diluc lol and genshin didn't give me a free SSR/5 star character.

However I do agree that Genshin is more polished, the look and feel, the aesthetic especially the character design is much better and closer to anime style.

But other than that, as someone who wants to enjoy playing rather than reading stories (or lore whatever u call it ) which are so boring, Tof is much better. Also, you can ride a rollercoaster in TOF LMAO.

All in all, I sound more biased towards TOF but yeah ever since TOF is released, I find myself no longer playing Genshin. Sumeru came and Cyno is coming but I don't bother logging in. Try TOF for a week, explore all the options you have that you cant in Genshin and then decide again for yourself which game do you prefer.

I don't get it why people keep on comparing TOF and Genshin, first and foremost, Genshin is an established game that has been there for years, so obviously its polished. On the other hand, TOF is a new game where there are a lot of bugs and crappy storyline which I honestly don't give af. As an MMO player who tried playing genshin its fucking lonely to play alone in a vast open world. Yeah, sure it's a person's preference in game. So, if people like playing TOF leave the fuck them alone. If you like Genshin, good for you and shut the fuck up. next.

Now if only they didn't market themselves as the Genshin killer, I would've had a much better experience with ToF. It's a decent MMO, don't get me wrong, but companies, please don't shoot yourselves on the foot like this without a good leg to stand on.

Why compare a single player open world rpg game to a literal online mmorpg. They're different. Just because it's open world and has anime doesn't mean that they're coherently the same or similar. I just don't get it. They're two different games. If I were to compare, I'd say both have their cons and pros. Genshin lacks content but is more polished, Tof has more content but is a little less polished. And if I were to mention the time gating. I actually like the fact there is a time gate, progressing too fast into a game that was just released two days ago(not actually referring tof to releasing two days ago, just using it as an example) makes the game really boring and dead. You got to wait for the game to release more content. Tof wasn't really designed to be grinded everyday. Hence the stamina/Resin/Energy system is also there. So once you're done with what you can do, you can get out of the game. Why compare genshin and tof.. You could say the same for genshin, "wait for content to come out". Thing is, the content also has to be interesting and fun. Ever see the anniversary, that shit was wack. You get a gamemode where you play a tower defense. That's wack. Besides the reward system in tof is better than Genshin whereas in Genshin, you need to do a fuck ton of grinding to get the bare minimum. If Tof had the polishing like genshin and had a slight more interesting story(which not many people would still care about). It'd be leagues better than Genshin. Also, swimsuit skins makes the game 100x better. Genshin 0/10, wack swimsuit skin.

I wanted to love the game at first and even spent money getting nemesis but I just don't think the game is fun enough for me to keep playing genshin has a better lore in my opinion and in tof everything just feels too big and annoying to climb I have the grappling hook and even then it still feels too annoying to climb and get across the map

this is always a rule in mmo since the dawn of time. PLAYERS DONT PLAY MMO FOR THE STORY!

there are always exceptions like ffxiv for story building but for general mmos, story isnt really a thing majority of players like to do.

one mmo i really likes is PSO2. i loved every part of it except story. im fine not playing the story quests. i can vouch for many players too

what draws people in mmo is the player interaction towards other players be it partying for same mission or pvp

genshit fandoms wont understand concepts like guild alliances, and stuff like spending an hour with the raid party, planning on how to conquer raid, or just be a total menace in player hangout lobbies

If you gift your character stuff, you can gain extra abilityes. Some are pretty important.

It’s totally possible to have an SR Build(with one or two SSRs) and compete with someone with 3 SRs (unless they are £2000 whales). Just have to farm from there.

the weapons are cool and i think its fun enough, but its not really enough to keep me invested. a lot of people were talking about it as like, a genshin competitor, but the things i like about genshin are the lore and characters, basically the parts genshin does and tof does NOT, and the things that tof does INSTEAD are things i would be upset about getting added to genshin. so tof looks fun i will watch but... i do not play

I like ToF but Genshin feels better. The exploration is smoother and even the combat feels like I have more control, even if the variance is more limited.
