I don't think Android is better now than ten years ago. It's just much bigger and slower. I believe this was intentional to get you to buy a new phone every couple of years.

Lol they featured an S7 as an example of how it got left behind, 3 years later I'm still using an S7, it's a good phone, I like it.

I have a pixel 5 with GrapheneOS for business, that's obviously a nice phone, but I wouldn't want to replace my S7, I love it so much, even if it is a bit slow when I use Android Auto.

The mostly likely cause for slow phones now is the battery. Processors have gotten so powerful, but the batteries in today's phones aren't user removable.

If hypothetically speaking, I never updates both the phone and the useless bloatwares in it, use SD card for storage, and use it exclusively for offline use (say emulators for games) when all newer apps no longer compatible with the outdated phone.

Excluding the batteries, does my phone performance stays the same as when its new? I'm talking about GPU/CPU and stuff like that, does those things also degradate over time like batteries do?

I don’t like this explaination... if I buy a phone I want to work just as a day 1! I don’t care about updates, l don’t care about new ios or new android... I just want to work as it is from a day one, and there is no option that you can choose between keeping the old software with the same performance or the new software with less percormance... I don’t believe anyone who says hmm you have to get updates that is the main key to experience new stuff, it will be better. No! It will only get your phone slower! And +++ Samsung does not offer galaxy s21 model with Snapdragon cpu on the EU market. Only on the US market. And on the EU market is only choice to buy s21 models with Exynos 😡
