Wouldn't it be nice to think that your copy of Pathfinder was stolen by some light fingered homeless guy. They then sat down and read it and it changed their life. Now under the bridge every evening there are a bunch of homeless people playing Pathfinder.
ОтветитьThank you for covering the sidebar BTW, it’s a great feature. I had to add sticky marks to my 5ed PHB so I can track down spells easier, having that built into the book really helps!
ОтветитьThe best way to "re-master" PF2E is to throw it in the bin and play og Pathfinder.
ОтветитьJust play pf1e. More content, more granularity, more creative gameplay
ОтветитьThank you, this felt like a cool and comprehensive review!
ОтветитьEdicts and Anenthemas sound like they may be too precise and rigid, subject to rules lawyering by Gamey players.
People often forget, it is the limits(rules) that help us create awesome characters, not the ability to do anything.
The PDFs of the books have "bookmark". So, literally, you can click and go to the section you want. But, it doesn't have links IN the PDF itself. That would be great.
ОтветитьI am getting pf for savage worlds. I love that system. So much cleaner than dnd
ОтветитьFirst time viewer here, just want to say this is a great summary.
ОтветитьFor the character sheet I made a template for my own based on the Beginners Guide Character Sheet for One-shots and new players :)
ОтветитьI see that you missed that Player Core 2 will be coming with the Rest of the classes.
That can happen easily :P
It will release with the last 8 classes missing in the beginning of August :)
I think that the Edicts and Anathema suck. I much prefer Alignment.
ОтветитьHearing about being to be able to make characters of mixed ancestry in the remaster truly may just fully sell me on getting into Pathfinder. As someone who loves writing characters and is the son of a mixed couple it is really cool to see this implemented. It will be so much fun to come up with characters based on this. I’ve been holding out for a while now and I think I have to pick these up now.
ОтветитьAs an old 1/2/3/4e veteran looking at Pathfinder I really love the no ability scores; it fits better as the modifier was what you really cared about anyway, and really hones in on the "pick a concept and make it" approach
ОтветитьHah ^^ I just start a demo to PF2e today and I didn't know that there's a remaster out! I still have the "old" PF2e Books around and good that I don't really need the remastered ones (though, I know me, I will get them eventually anyways). I think that's good if they remastered it correctly and declutter it because I didn't like the layout of the original PF2e Core Book.
Since, at least for non-demo groups, I use digital tools, like Pathbuilder 2e I don't have to wait for releases and that. I don't want to use paper anymore and switch to fully digital for my players so there's more room for other stuff on the table. Especially on small tables. A smartphone is always smaller than big sheets :3
Stay crunchy
Wonderful video
ОтветитьI think they did a good job from what I have seen. I probably won’t get it because Pathfinder isn’t really my style. Though I do love their goblins…
ОтветитьIMO, the best way to update Pathfinder was called Dungeons and Dragons 4e. And in all fairness, the best way to update Dungeons and Dragons 4e is called 13th Age. But to each their own. If you're having fun playing, you're doing it right.
Ответить👏👏👏👏
ОтветитьAlignment was incredibly useful for stories involving inter-planar warfare, explained the Blood War, and the entire Sigil and outer planes setup hinged upon it. I am sad to see it go.
People have rightly pointed out that the schools of magic were a mess, but I really wish they'd replaced them with something better rather than scrapped them entirely with a "What literal school did you go to? These are the spells that were taught there." which just seems like an arbitrary way to keep the word school in there rather than evoking a deep and complex system of magic that would could master with years of study which was the entire concept of the wizard.
I wonder if we’ll eventually get a new Pathfinder Adventure Card Game series with 2.0
Ответитьthanks for the deep review! Just a small note - it would be good if you left some of the onscreen elements (like the covers, pages, character sheet, etc.) up for quite a bit longer, as you talk, to have time to actually absorb them. Cheers!
ОтветитьAlignment is a hold out from AD&D. The previous editions and basic used a three alignmemt system that made a whole lot more sense, imho.
ОтветитьStopping by to support a non dnd TTRPG ^^
ОтветитьReally great shot on review. I stumbled on your channel. Enjoyed the video and your point of view. Women are always welcome in the rpg space!🎉
ОтветитьPlayer Core 2 (July) will bring alchemist, barbarian, champion, investigator, monk, oracle, sorcerer, and swashbuckler clases.
Ancestry wise it will have catfolk, gnoll, hobgoblin, kobold, lizardfolk, ratfolk, and tengu, alongside three versatile heritages (dhampir and duskwalker)
And forty archetypes
Disarm is actually effective!
ОтветитьOne of the many phenomenal thing about PF2e Remastered is its name: Remastered conveys a lot of meaning
ОтветитьNice! a video about D&D4e Essentials!!
I mean, PF2e Remaster.
You dont release pocket versions of book editions that have day 1 errata without updating first. Paizo, you disappoint me.
ОтветитьEdicts and enaphamas aka i5s just ethics , context the word ethics means the indeviduals rules on what u will or wont do so yea its ethics
ОтветитьNeed to see the Beastery.
ОтветитьNot just 2 a monster core comes out next month
ОтветитьOh and also I just wanted to say: I completely agree that the decision to make the book's visual formatting much more simple is a huge upgrade from the older core rulebooks. It's weird to me to look at my digital copy of the old CRB or my pocket version of the APB because they quite frankly look like products from the mid 2000s to me? The plain text on white + the particular font they're using in the new core 4 feel super modern and polished and classy to me.
ОтветитьI loved this review and I think it really got to the heart of the remaster project.
I also just want to say that I'm a recent subscriber who discovered your channel through some of your older PF2E book reviews and I've been really impressed so far and wanted for hank you for highlighting cantripa medias journals because I picked up a couple and have been loving them for my sit-down game (got myself a GM notebook and my sister a player one!).
I'm disappointed to see the views your channel gets on average but please know there are definitely those of us with notifications on watching your videos as you put them out! The channel is super well produced and your insights are great. You seem like great folks to play RPGs with and your presentation is super calming to me in evenings.
I just recently realized I have a 1st edition pathfinder beginner box I got from a humble bundle that I haven't opened. Try 1st or laugh about being forgetful and buy 2nd?
ОтветитьParchment backgrounds (and the like) makes pages look great at a glance, but they are not the best for readability. Good to see many publishers moving away from it
ОтветитьThanks for the vid!
ОтветитьA bit overenthusiastic about Leshies, but you still earned a sub!😊
ОтветитьFirst time watcher of your videos: Solid job! Keep up the great work! :)
ОтветитьMost would say the hybrid classes are obsolete . However though they were cool playing them in owlcats games crpgs . The OGL Controversy sucks on ttrpgs however ; perhaps it was a necessity to Encourage other companies to be less like clones. I love paizo’s lore and the new concepts are great! Without alignment and ability scores , probably I suppose not needing the old concepts .
ОтветитьGreat review!! I have to say this is the best review of PF2 Remastered that I have seen. So great work. I already have the old PF2 Books -- and yeah -- will probably stick with them. You know a nice product would be more of a low cost "changes book" -- for those of us that already invested in the old PF2E books, or if the PDFs are not too pricey -- may just get the PDFs.
ОтветитьReally disappointed that this wasn't an update to existing books instead of forcing people to have to buy the books all over again. It was the final nail in the coffin for me with Paizo.
ОтветитьMixing two Heritages together and selecting traits from each. I remember doing that in 2011 with my little crappy Labyrinths & Liches game on my little crappy google docs website 🤣
It is interesting to see more games do that now.
According to both Eric Mona and Jason Buhlman the remaster was only conceptualized after the OGL announcement as it put a direct threat to Pathfinder and Starfinder. A lot of the changes were homebrew from various devs games such as spirit damage and sanctification.
ОтветитьBeen loving the system so far. Such a breath of fresh air.
ОтветитьWaiting for the small versions of the book. Also waiting for the Second Player book with the rest of the classes.
After talking to a lot of 5e people, it seams they will be sticking with 5e and not including 5.5e for as long as possible. They don't trust the playtesting from WotC. They expect eratta for something OP or other rules concerning running the game. I haven't done pathfinder except for the Starter set so I have a lot to catch up on.
Did Paizo ever come up with a quick guide to changes for the Starter set concerning the revision rules?
Am I correct, that these remastered books are complete replacements for the 2nd edition books and I should replace the old books and take them to a used book store?
