I need pronunciation lessons! A-gin-court? Aging-cor? If I do it again it'll be off with my head!

I always thought that the gift of the ball was a play on "the ball is in your court".

Imagine a king who fights his own battles. Wouldn't that be a sight?

When referring to French names we always try to use the French pronunciation.

They just had to throw in there that a woman had to open his eyes to hear really happened. Doesn’t surprise me due to how Hollywood is today but still..

It’s my understanding that the battle of Agincourt was won due to superior participation (and attrition) of the English knights, greater number of English archers then the French, and the British army was better suited for fighting under the muddy conditions as they relied less on armor& horse

The movie was phenomenal. Very much a coming of age movie recognizing how 4 teenage boys were lead to their death because they had too much responsibility at an early age, and the the last boy becoming a man all while loosing his soul. Brilliant execution and excellent acting.

One thing that frustrates me as a fan of this movie is a lot of the reviews mark it down in score because of historical inaccuracies. The problem is it's never made very clear to most people that the script wasn't supposed to be historically accurate - it's a reinterpretation of the play about Henry V that William Shakespeare wrote as part of his 4 part collection 'The Henriad'. I honestly have gained such a massive appreciation for the film the more I've watched it.

Timothee Chalamet kinda reminds me of a young James McAvoy. They're both kinda scrawny and unimpressive at first glance, but they have such magnetic screen presences that loom waaaay larger than life. Like just looking at a pic you'd never think Chalamet could play a convincing warrior king (or some sort of desert messiah of the universe), but man does he nail it.

I am not sure what you were watching, but for me the story of Henry the 5th is a story of tragedy that weeks before he was to become king of France and England, he dies of dysentery. The whole point is an inference that the royal line was doomed because his father was a usurper.

It's a superb film.... I've watched in excess of 10-15 times.
The cinematography, casting, music score, and costumes are magnificent.
Sean Harris as usual turns in a wonderful performance as Sir William, and Timothy Chalamet superbly cast as Henry.
But unfortunately, the story is pretty much fictitious, and is incorrect at almost every juncture.
Too many to correct here, so I advise picking up a history book detailing this period.
His marriage to Catherine of Valois took place several years after agreeing the throne of France on death of the current French king.
( She would go on to marry a servant of her court after Henry's death, Owen Tudor. He was grandfather to Henry Tudor who defeated Richard 111 at Boswoth Field 1485 )

This movie is simply fantastic. I still can't believe Netflix hasn't tried to adapt other Shakespearean tales in this kind of format with the same director. They could be great movies as long as they're done in the same vein as the king.

No EVIDENCE that he killed the chief justice?? Why not just say that "we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did not kill chief justice William, because the chief justice had died two years earlier"?, that would have been a more historically on point thing to say.

The portrayal of Catherine was the most unrealistic scene I've ever watched in the history of period films, and that includes the "We Will Rock You" stadium chanting from A Knight's Tale. Women, above all and especially women of royal breeding who've undergone a lifetime of correction and etiquette training, were not impudent, rude or defiant. If Catherine had delivered that feminist garbage to the real King Henry V, she would have been slapped out of her chair.

This movie shows that some people really do just want to watch the world burn, and they’ll go to any length of deceit to achieve that goal. They will manipulate anyone of good, pure intentions who seek nothing but peace to have their way.

I always had planned to watch this movie but never got around to actually watching it because I kept putting it off!
Then I recently watched it because of watching Timothy in Dune recently (Yes Im a Dune fan dont hound me) lol, but I like movies based on historical events or events that were possibly true or legends as well, and I finally watched it today and I enjoyed every minute of it, the movie has a slow pace but its perfect for this type of genre and cinematography accompanied with the the score that sets an ominous tone throughout from the start!
