New Submarine offered to the Indian Navy under P-75I: SMX 3.0

India should invest in a Indian company for a submarine.

India is only country on earth which can do rocket science but can't manufacturer normal wapons.

India should make indigenous ssk sub....we all ready made own SSBN

It would have been better if we make a 1800 ton kalveri into a 2500ton with aip and vls system.the present kalveri can be extended by adding aip and vls system.and p75i should be given to russia for 4000ton sub as Russia has offered complete tot and ip rights.we should also demand kalibe 300,1500,2500km missile tech along with it.this way we will have 2 subs of various size.even good for export.

Sub is good but France will charge india 5 times the cost of a scorpene for each SMX.

It's the most modern conventional submarine in the world, Australia bought them recently.

Then Indian should check and confirm the P75i project ... As well as Navy should go ahead with 3+3 Kilo class Submarines deal...
The Improved kilo class subs are one of the best in the class...

6 subs at Mazgaon and 6 at L& T yard..we need more subs as kilo and shishu mar class will retire before these are delivered leaving only the scorpenes with old torpedoes to dominate the seas...

Video is good but the question is do we need these sophisticated submarine? There is no mention of AIP. They are very costly, and still costlier to maintain. Instead, I feel india should procure extra three nos of scorpion class, build in mazgoan dock and order three nos kilo class. Personally I feel German type 214 or Spain S80 is a good choice for P75I. India should steer clear of any contender that is in it's concept/design phase and not production ready. The need of the hour is to go for already proven platforms so that they can be acquired quickly to operate in our littoral waters. Let us not get carried away with "specially made for india" , "India specific" tagines. We are already working on our own bigger nuclear subs. Just order 3 follow ons to the existing scorpene order and go for the best budget friendly p75i instead if running after the biggest and the baddest.

The project cost of p75i is near about 6.3 billion dollars, that means 1bn+ for each submarine. I think it's too much , even high priced japanese subs are near about 600m+ with aip. We already have kilo & scorpion class, i.e. both russian & french platform & we've already paid for maintenance

It seems that France is about to offer a package deal to India consisting of 6 SMX 3.0 conventional SSK type subs with AIP system under Project 75-I along with 6 SSN type subs which will be manufactured in India under Project 76 with limited ToT. The total value of the deal will be around US $ 12-15 billions. Such a deal will prove as a win-win situation to both the countries because it will help to lay a solid foundation of strategic alliance between the two countries.

IN wants VLS launched missiles for land attack and not anti ship missiles like Brahmos. Brahmos NG could be fired from torpedo tubes.
