AtlasOS Review

I run this on my gaming PC although I literally only use it for gaming. So I've installed geforce experience, logitech ghub, steam, and a handful of other game launchers. And that's all I plan to ever install. For me, it's a great experience.

I am a fan of having more resources for my VMs to do what I intend them for.

Recent generations of processors have hardware fixes for these vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities cannot be easily reproduced without downloading anything in most cases. This fix is built into the browser. It makes sense to enable it only when working on cloud servers.🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

I just installed atlus on an old machine a couple weeks ago and all windows update, and defender as well as malware are included you have an option to install it during installation

I'm about to build a "gaming-only" pc using Launchbox/Big Box containing tons of emulators and offline windows games. It will NOT be online at all so I'm thinking this might be a good option for me

They updated it now it has windows updates and defender installed

I wish i would have saw this video before i took the plunge on atlasos. It told me i only had to wipe the one drive i was installing it on, so i backed everything up to others drives
And then i had to wipe those. And lost years worth of games and other things. The system itself seems a lot better. Theyve done a lot to improve since you're video. But i wish i had known to backup to an external drive. 😢😢

Ok, I stopped at "a lot of security problems". Most of us want a stripped down microshaft windows for whole different reasons than "security". So your points are mute. Who gives a crap about what garbage you have in your pc anyways?!

There was a few reasons why i hated his LTT Soo called channel. When he was right about to get to a point or show some thing he would go right to a sponsor he is a sell out. Half of the information he spewed out you can research. I really got mad when he was suppose to be describing or installing Atlas OS and did not show jack. 10 mins into that video he start's to talk about a freaking laptop...Uhh i came for the Os not the laptop. And than does not even show the install process of it. Talks about the laptop for the rest of the video. This is why i hated his channel due to too many spansor BS he was continuously trying to sell he own crap lol.

Last time i tested Atlas OS was like 6 months ago maybe, there is not only any safety mechanism existing, if you test it long enough you will discover shadow admin user. That's when i ended my tests.

With my stock windows I get about 95 processes and 3% utilization and 15% utilization with waterfox ON.

hey, so atlas recently got an update v0.3.2 which is more stable than the one you have reviewed(Support for Windows 10 22H2 and Windows 11 23H2). Also, they brought back windows defender as an option and enabled security updates. Please do check it out :)

I use it on my old laptop witch i use it to watch anime and nothing else so even if something happens i do os again. I used tiny before and next thing will be linux

It sucks that Microsoft's take on Windows Update with removing authority from the users leads users to be willing to sacrifice security entirely to get away from Windows Update.

When I try to boot it it says getting services ready... and it just stays stuck there. Can someone help?

I use Ghost Spectre in my old laptop and it doesnt contain anything important and i use temp mail on the laptop.

Altlas OS seems interesting, but I wouldn't use it as a daily driver. Most likely in a VM
I read on the Atlas website it still needs a windows licence to activate the windows part of it. Is it possible to run it without and un-activated in a VM. Its not like I'd be using windows all the time.

AtlasOS = trash

This OS is not for people who cry about Antivirus os security. I would Install it on a separate disk/system and only use Steam. Installing antivirus in AtlasOS defeats the whole purpose.

Atlas is nothing more than a stripping down of the newer operating system for people who just want to play games on limited computers. No one should be doing anything productive on this OS much less browse the internet or even read emails.

I watched because I'm about to install either Atlas or ReviOS. I Have to get rid of windows updates. Every time there is an update it breaks my video card driver and I have to 1st use the amd software removal tool to clean all traces of the amd software and then I have to reinstall the drivers. It's a Pain and it happens it seems once a week. There would be no problem is Microsoft allowed me to disable updates like they used to do. I have used Windows since windows 3.1 and Never Ever has an update actually fixed something that was not working in each OS. All the updates do is install bloat and unwanted features.

Definately going to have a good look at Atlas... I only have one laptop for "proper" use (banking etc), the rest of my systems are basically expendable and rebuildable. Soooooo - I'm not fussed about security. If I can get mad performance for zero security... ok. I mean, I'm not HAPPY with the trade-off but.... Windows is just so damn bloated and crap.... if I can run my games and snap snap snap... I'll take the gamble. One "home" system that is Fort Knox, the rest? I dont care - just be quick!

what antivirus would you recommend for Atlas considering no windows defender?

Uh, I'm still gaming on Windows 7 today.
Steam says they'll end support by the end of the year, but that probably just means no more updates to my games, and who cares. They are pretty much mature by now and updates have slowed to a glacial crawl anyway by now that they rarely if ever get any. If you love Windows 7 and miss it, just reinstall it. It still works totally fine. You'll be surprised how snappy fast it is without all that cruft that you have to disable in 10 with ShutUp10. I couldn't ever use WIndows 10 without SHutUp10 and OpenShell to make it behave more like WIndows 7. If you got a NAT firewall on your router, you don't need any security. Just have a braincell to not download and install anything sketchy from questionable websites that are not the publisher's.

Can you suggest an os with more security to run on an extremely slow low powered laptop ?Basically old celeron with 4 gigs of ram.

Removing Windows Defender and Windows Update is a good thing - Microsoft spy on you with those features included in Windows. Christ Titus Tech has compromised when it comes to protecting your privacy and preventing these Globalist companies spying on you.
