For me the best is the Fire Station, have a metal fenses, a garage, 2 floor building, normaly multiple cars and fire trunks, a lot of anti-fire clothes that is good to zombie defense and hatches, the buck have espace to plats or the rain colectors and some trees around to use to barricade or to cook.

Isolated gas stations are great if youre willing to travel. Which you are, cuz you posted up at an isolated gas station.

The church isn't actually bad but u need to work on it like add a bed , kitchen and etc but of course at the start of a new run I made sure to a find temporary base near the church since the church has zero defenses and has many windows so I slowly gather some planks and start sealing the windows and a few doors and slowly the became a fort .
But it's right smack at the center of the town so imagine how much plank ure gonna need to build a wall around the church

I love my construction site base. I've got a double airlock with log walls and metal bars on the front office windows. There's enough space to make a full garden and I turned the back trailer into a greenhouse for the winter (No more over watered carrots.) After several hundred hours playing my best tips are eat at least 5 strawberries spaced out throughout the day they keep you from getting sad, add acorns to your dishes for protein and fats when you have no butter or oil, and put cabbage and potatoes in everything for carb bulk. Also, always shove doors before flash opening so you know if you have company.

Bladiuss, i recently did some research. I found out that the southern gas station is the only gas station in project zomboid with 8 pumps.
With enough work and skills, it might become the ultimate base. One gas pump can sustain you for about 12 and a half years with two ice fridges running (not accounting the car and generator condition) so that means you practically could live there for litteraly 100 years without scavenging for more gas.

So for the gated community you want to build the street fences a few tiles back from the edge. That way you can stand at the corner of the fence and see if any Zeds are outside your gate, and shoot them from safety.

Where can i find a sledgehammer in rosewood other than the fire deparment as im basing there and didnt get a spawn? Ive searched all the stores and most of the garages, i learned that you can easily break down the garage doors with a club hammer but idk if it works on walls as well

I like to suggest rosewood expansion, it has a lot more increadible bases. But in vanilla, nothing beats the fire station for me.

Am I doing something wrong? When I break the wall on the second floor fire department I can’t walk on the roof? I just fall down to the first floor

I use one of the bigger houses in Rosewood in the south for now, i started as police officer. From there i will loot all interesting buildings first and then I will move on. The house in Louisville where you have the big garage in the west of the town seems to be nice to get settled down. Or maybe playing as nomade would be cool. I have to say that i play with 0.4 starting multiplier and it will go up to 1.0 after 60 days (no respawn). I like it to have lesser zombies but if you dont watch out you can die, too. You know what i would love? A mod or a game system where you can create your own quests or similiar stuff.
