Hello Dr. Huberman!
I was just doing research for work, and by chance came across ibogaine and it made me curious why psychedelics are so effective in treating strong habit addictions, and things mentioned in the video description above! I wanted to get your opinion by asking you a question, but it seems like the video will do a good job explaining this :). Will give this a watch!
Thanks for your cool content :)

More focus on phenomenology rather than just pharmacology, in other words focus more on the meaning and quality than on just measuring and quantifying

A classic sign of the onset of a mushroom trip is literally feeling like you're dying. Ego dissolution occurs because you're forced to deal with your own mortality while at the same time being shown that your perception of reality is just a perception and it can be so easily altered.

I could remember several years ago I was diagnosed with ADHD. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until my mom recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

I believe that a therapeutic usage of psychedelics can be not only with your eyes closed in a dark, safe, warm room, but also when it's taken somewhere in the nature, like in the mountains, or in the forest, assuming that those places are safe enough. I tried 3 of aforementioned places while listening to ambient (Brian Eno, Robert Rich, Harold Budd), each of these places had a certain benefit in healing my depression, anxiety. Psychedelics are a very powerful, and reliable tool for mental health improvement, considering that it is taken properly(set/setting, goals for the trip, water, information like this podcast, and courage). It works!

I have the upmost respect for psychedelics now. I've always been so curious as to how it helps addiction, and now I know. It is the single most profound experience I have ever had in my life (even beyond childbirth). It was beyond TERRIFYING as I left this world and died (it was more real than real), I did a huge DMT dose but I would not change it for the world now. The most profound experience, that I will never be able to put into words. I'm a different person. Nothing matters anymore.

For me it's cruel and a crime, to withhold a drug that worked in a trial,
while the patients life is threatened because he/ she doesn't get the drug anymore. 😔

Pharma, of course, doesn't want cathartic healing effects from few high dosages.
They want a pill that makes people feel better but only as long as they take it.
One to two sessions( pills) a year and healing effects means: No money for them.

I went on trips with eyes open, eyes closed, with music (different kinds)
and in stillness.
Different trips, but each healing and helpful.
Musik can be a distraction,
but also be a guide and enhence emotions.
With or without... both has it's pro's and con's to it.

Trust and letting go really is the key. ❤

Love these kind of comversations!

Microdosing works.
Mood enhancement, less anxiety, more drive and clarity for shure.
But a cup of coffee does the same job.
You can notice those little changes in feeling and behaviour if your awareness is high enough, to recognise them.
And only then you can work with and learn from it.
Simply taking a micro-psilo-pill regularily in order to feel and perform better...
well...
better than taking classic antidepressants, but goal should be to heal trauma and learn from your experience in order not to be dependent on any drug on long run.

The somatic releases I've had with 4 to 5gr of psilocybin have been similar to the ones with ayahuasca, which has helped tremendously with the pain and stiffness I had from years of suffering due to fibromyalgia.

MDMA raises norepinephrine, this counteracts the inability to control the mind for someone with ADHD or a slight deficiency. Using it withL:SD can give you conscious control of the trip. This can be GOOD or BAD. Because in this instance you can truly chose dark and evil. If you take only LSD the subconscious has more of a chance of leading the trip, so you will get a more normalised trip. I used ketamine to disassociate from my body and also then took LSD and MDMA to explore the ability of my mind without outside influence, I went to many places on that trip by bending my mind, I even went inside a video game.

I was very depressed and tapering off benzodiazepines during covid. It was the toughest time ever and I was disabled for a year.
I decided to take 7g of mushrooms and had the best trip. I had multiple hobit like voices talk to me and respond to me as if they were there. The bed I was in turned into a hobit style village as well. I asked them questions and they gave me answers I still think about today. While I was talking to them (more like thinking not talking) I was in shock this was happening.

I suffer from chronic cluster headaches. These left me with depression, anxiety, panic attacks and depersonalisation disorder. I initially started micro dosing 🍄 for my cluster headaches, but they killed 4 birds with one stone! It completely suppressed all of the mental traumas I had been suffering from. I’ve completely got my life back and my family have got me back. Within days of me starting, there was a noticeable change. This is going to help so many people going forward.

As someone who has done both MDMA and Psilocybin I must express how disappointed I was that MAPS chose to inexplicably focus on MDMA first. I would suggest and expect that psilocybin will have far greater and longer lasting impact on multiple disorders including Ptsd
than MDMA ever could. Not to diminish the success MDMA does have on many levels but compared to an actual classic psychedelic it is like taking a bicycle or an F 16 fighter jet. I will never understand it but still glad progress is being made.
