“Your next challenge is to name a bad Metal Gear Rising song”
Me: hmmm… well sh-t
Metallica.
ОтветитьThe game is great and has aged well. But without its soundtrack I wouldn’t replay it as much as I do. I get so pumped up I can’t put it down! I’ve never been a fan of the Doom music. At least not the 2016 and on Doom. Sounds like the same generic and repetitive guitar strums over and over and over
Ответитьmfs in chat are mad annoying lmao especially assassin
ОтветитьI love how empathetic he is too.
''I probably sucked the joy outta you by stopping.'' etc.
chrtistopherson diff
Ответитьthat chat tho...
ОтветитьI! Sharpen the knife!
Ответитьmgs saga songs according to me
action - rules of nature
thrill- snake eater
sadness - heavens divide
feeling of cigar - sins of father ( even though lyrics were good but people listening to woooooooooohooooooooooo)
the end of something - the best is yet to come
angry - red sun
just remembered something - can't say to goodbye to yesterday
talking to someone on bus stand or railway station - It has to be this way
I like how everybody in the twitch chat uses the words "Cheese" and "Cheesy" to describe the lyrics, of course they're on the nose, but who cares? I'd rather the song convey it's message clearly than not at all, the use of lyrics in MGRR music to tell the story of the boss you're fighting and how their morals and ideologies conflict with Raiden's is one of the reasons why it had such a big resurgence in the recent years, and is still wildly popular to this day.
Songs like "Stains of Time" "The only thing I know for real" "It has to be this way" and such are pretty on the nose with the message they're trying to convey, but that's the point, it's not a game where you have to go in-depth about figuring out why your opponents fight, or whatever, it's a game where everybody's views, ideologies, political viewpoints, and character's are laid out on the table, plain as day, especially with songs like "I'm my own Master now" and "The Hot Wind Blowing"
Besides, why does it matter if the lyrics are cheesy or too shallow? I'm here to play as a cyborg with an electric katana, who fights a Brazillian man with a double jump, a senator with the ability to give himself the N-Word Pass and immunity to cancellation, a nihilist who dodges by literal self bisection, a robot dog with a chainsaw for a tail, and a crazy war-enthusiast with a pair of scissors, as long as the music kicks ass, it doesn't matter.
Edit: And to the one person in the chat who said something along the lines of "The buffalo, the first animal we all think of as a follower"
That's a sheep
When talking about "Blind followers" and "Herds," most people think of sheep. You're trying too hard to prove your point.
im my own master now is by far one of the best songs in MGR
ОтветитьI have 0 music composing experience but I think the experience is so much better when you’re playing the game.
ОтветитьSince (I think) he hasn’t played the game itself to see the storyline and the more specific characteristics of each boss I understand why it wasn’t touched on, besides when someone mentioned a bit about blade wolf, but the fact that the songs fit the characters, and not just the lyrics relating to them, but the themes in the way each song is written, fits each of the bosses personalities and character traits so well, and that in itself makes me just love the mgrr ost even more.
ОтветитьLol looking at the chat in which one dude randomly went " nanomchines son "
ОтветитьMost of your chat never touched the game or watched gameplay and it shows. "It's too on the nose. It's too try hard. The lyrics are cheesy." Etc.
All of these songs are story telling telling devices and the lyrics only play when you progress far enough into the boss fight.
They tell the stories of the bosses and brilliantly I might add. You can understand everything about them as you fight. Everything from their mannerisms to their philosophies. There's a reason why this game's OST is praised.
It's kind of like Undertale music where if you've never played the game or seen gameplay to really understand the context, then you won't appreciate the song to the fullest. You won't "get it".
Regarding "The Only Thing I Know For Real", specifically to the guy who said the song was good until the singing started, counter point: go F yourself. This song slaps. Better yet, all of these songs slap.
You better believe if I was in that chat I would have been tearing those uncultured people apart, lol
Jamie christopherson is the goat
ОтветитьDisturbed would be absolutely bonkers if they covered even half of these. All of their themes are right up their alley and David's vocals would CRUSH ALL of these with his range he can manage.
ОтветитьWhoever kept saying the songs got worse whenever the singing started is so dumb because the songs are 90% instrumental there just listing to the last 10% of the song its so dumb
ОтветитьI like how every second that he listens to the music he looks like he has eargasm
ОтветитьIts true, when I expect to get an intense moment in dota2 I sometimes pause the animemusic Im listening to so I could focus.
ОтветитьSo, the cool thing with the "glam rock" song, is that while every other "Wind of destruction" is very cynical & either accepts or embraces their role as remorseless killer, he thinks he's the hero fighting for freedom despite his violent atrocities. The "poppiness" fits the blind insincerity of the character
ОтветитьIts funny how he hates the dlc music LOL
ОтветитьI think I speak for most of us as mgr fans in that we would throw our money at Konami if they released a metal gear rising 2
ОтветитьVery good video, a little sad that my eyes were drawn to your chat a lot of the time. Some of the people there seemed to be a little too "smart" to enjoy music. Maybe its time to get another hobby.
ОтветитьDo you know what's the problem? Most of people in the chat aren't gamers. Don't sound like gamers at least. There's a HUGE, HUGE difference between VOCALS in game soundtrack and normal pop or metal. It's a much different experience when you play the game. This is why they shit on the songs, if this was my first experience I wouldn't be amazed by many of these much.
ОтветитьIgnore chat for maximum enjoyment of the video.
ОтветитьI hate how some of them were saying things like “The lyrics aren’t super clever.” They’re meant to tell the story of the boss that you’re fighting. They wouldn’t get it though because they’ve never played the game.
Ответить"the lyrics are too literal"
??? thats the idea. this twitch chat is talking shit about something they know nothing about
Damn that chat was whiny
ОтветитьUnfortunately I have to agree with the majority of comments here. The music is great but like the Devil May Cry 5 soundtrack you will not get how great these pieces of music are unless you are playing the games stages with them. It changes everything due to how dynamic the tracks are.
ОтветитьThe chat just reeks of people that really want others to think they're intelligent by just trashing on stuff because that's what they think smart people do. Buncha hipsters
ОтветитьThis video really would've been a lot more enjoyable without having to occasionally glance at the chat commenters
ОтветитьLogan Mader doin hard work there! Love it!
Ответить[NOW ACTIVATING WOMEN DEFLECTORS]
"Like I said, kids are cruel, Jack...
AND I LOOOOVE MINORS!!!"
A wise man once said: “these songs were made to give anyone over 40 a heart attack” so saying you’re old is great marketing
ОтветитьPeople here are judging the music by itself, but they’re missing the point. It’s missing the context of the ultra-cheesy 80’s action cyborg-ninja badassery of the game.
ОтветитьSo as noted the lyrics are often overpowered by the rest of the track for all but the last 3 songs
there is a reason for this
in all but the last 3 tracks the lyrics dont come in till right at the end of the fights they are meant to be that kinda hidden away like internal thoughts tryna scream out over the constant loud war going on around them
while the last 3
all have lyrics for the get go
and are a much more important part of the track
especially in The only thing I know for real
where the lyrics actually stop for the end of the fight to emphasize the very point of them
Chat doesn't know what they're saying
Ответитьpase un agradable momento viendo tu video , gracias
Ответитьhis reaction to stains of time was immeasurable
ОтветитьThe only thing I know for real and It has to be this way are probably the 2 tracks that stand out the best without having played the game and are just great tracks with zero context.
ОтветитьThe band munro metal i think they are called, they would do excellent at a cover of what soundtrack.
ОтветитьJt music
ОтветитьMick gordan is a man of many, many talents.
ОтветитьThe soundtrack doesn't work without the game and the game doesnt work without the soundtrack.
ОтветитьJetstream Sam my beloved 😍
