In Mexico City this problem got so bad that they started using two different subway lines one for men and another just for women

I think this is one of the consequences of the highly stressed office life that Japanese men suffer. Office life in any country is monotonous, horrendous, soul-sucking experience, no one wants to be there, only the boss because s(he) is boss, everyone else hates it, so you are in this environment where you can feel all the negative emotions and people desperate to get to the time to leave. But in Japan is even worse because is an unspoken rule, workers can't leave until the boss leaves.

Japan and every country has to work with their toxic environment of offices because offices just exist to fed the boss' ego and nothing more.
