What a silly discussion here!! Are you News Channels all nuts?: If the Trooper orders you to stop, you just stop. Any further questions? Not really, right? (our planet has turned from survival of the fittest to a "highway for the dumbest")

The law overrides all of the recommendations or policies , if the law is not enforced why do we need police.

When you make a policy to ‘not chase’ then criminals run.

There is no reason to put any drivers at risk. Thats why that motorcyclists shouldn't have been going so fast and should have pulled over when the cop tried to stop him.

More media BS blaming police. The motorcyclist is dead because of his decisions and behavior, not because of law enforcement.

Called "chasin em to death". The penalty for speeding is not death. Were more people in danger because of the motorcycle rider or because of the actions of the driver of the police car? Law enforcement has a year to arrest and prosecute anyone for a misdemeanor. From one to three years for felonies and of course no limit to arrest and prosecute for murder.
BTW:I have over 40yrs in law enforcement and related fields. In this country and several others as military contractor. Have no problem with Trooper, or any officer, enforcing traffic laws. BUT for over 40yrs have seen officers get more excited about pursuits than an actual homicide suspect. If the person not stopping for officers has not committed another crime, specifically a felony, then why continue the pursuit? Endangering both the officers and the public even more. Also just discontinuing the pursuit doesn't mean the one running will slow down but if they cause a crash it's completely on them. Not the officer thus no liability. Hopefully. A 1973 case in Chattanooga, Tn. changed liability laws for individual officers forever.

If you let him run,how can you prove who was actually on the bike? With a full face helmet and fully clothed,it could be anybody!
