For anyone doing this, bottle brushes are brilliant to agitate the cleaner.
Ответитьgood video¡¡¡
ОтветитьGood video, thanks. Is there any way I could mess this up if I try this on my 2016 116d M Sport or is it pretty straight forward as your video? And does it need lubricating after cleaning or anything like that? Apologies if that sounds daft. My engine doesn’t seem to recognise I’ve pressed the throttle until a couple of seconds after and sometimes have judder issues at high speeds so hoping it’s this. Cheers
Ответитьis this the same for the Mini N47 1.6 engine?
ОтветитьI think i need to do this, i have a 635d... sluggish acceleration, almost like an acceleration lag sometimes 🤔
ОтветитьOven cleaner... is made... to break down carbon...!! Why haven’t I ever thought of that before?? 🤦♂️ Thanks, you’ve just got yourself a new subscriber! 👍
ОтветитьWould removing the valve affect the software at all? I’ve been told mine needs replacing and then it will need a software update, Would like to try to clean instead.
ОтветитьActually did this today after seeing your video. Mr Muscle worked a treat! Dont know what differences I'll notice if any but it defiantly needed doing as it was pretty thick in there. 👍
Ответитьwill to car pass an mot with no egr ??
ОтветитьWhat u just done there does it make a noticeable benefit of the car
ОтветитьHow often cleaning?
ОтветитьLegend, well done fella.
ОтветитьGeorge what happens if you drive the car with the egr unplugged from the engine bay? I’ve got a N47. Thanks
ОтветитьGreat video! Thank you!
ОтветитьProbably better off just replacing it.
ОтветитьGeorge, I just bought M47 BMW e46 Coupe 2004 , from my friend , and my friend told me 2 years ago he had a problem with his EGR system. Actually his EGR cooler was destroyed, by the hot fumes coming from the EGR , I guess. He changed it for the Mahle EGR cooler, but since he did that in a BMW service in Italy, I doubt he told them to clean his EGR while they are operating on it. Many people told me if I clean EGR and intake manifold , I could get some "leaks" in the system after that, since "the car filled the holes he has there" and now when you clean the manifold, you will actually "open those little holes" .... Sounds to me like stupid logic, what do you suggest? Im not planning to delete the EGR, but do you suggest a good old cleaning of the manifold and EGR valve? I can see in some videos that you are cleaning the EGR only, even though we can see the end of the intake manifold looks gross while you are getting the EGR back in place. Will it help my car accelerate a bit better?
ОтветитьBe advised that oven cleaners damage aluminum, it even states on the package. I've seen lots of people clean EGRs, Turbos etc with it... Do it at your own risk. Better buy the specific product for EGRs, Turbos/vanes, MAF etc etc.
ОтветитьYou can use petrol to clean very good shits from diesel. But the best thing is to take out this shit EGR valve, because only thing wich this valve doing is clog your engine with garbage 😏
ОтветитьDoes the EGR apply to diesel engine only
ОтветитьNice video man, cheers.
ОтветитьIf i do this along with intake manifold and intake ports. Clear the codes. Im hoping its fine. What do i do about MAF sensor code?
ОтветитьIf I've cleaned the egr same way as you did on same car on video and still no better doses this mean I need new egr valve
ОтветитьI did this and the carbon on my car was ridiculous it’s was maybe double even triple what’s in this video and it was also rock hard like literal hard Plastic and not soft at all. Anyone know why?
Car runs beautifully even before cleaning the EGR and it’s only done 130k miles. (Basically not even broken in the engine m47)
You can buy special spray for decarbonization :)
ОтветитьHi can you walnut blast the EGR valve?
ОтветитьI’ve got X3 e83 3 litre D ... where’s mine on it ?
ОтветитьThis build up in sut ... does it effect the power of the car ? did it with this bmw??
ОтветитьHey George, any reason why you didnt clean the other end where the valve attaches to? Looks thick with carbon too? Why did you not clean that at the same time?
ОтветитьSo if you remove and delete the egr do you have to have the car re mapped to tell the car it’s not their ?
ОтветитьAny issues with oil consumption on a series 3 2006 2.0 tdi. The step son bought one with 100k and its using a bit since the service. Done the vortex as per your video. Any tips?
ОтветитьHi thank you awesome video and content... Can you please have the EGR DELETE video please
ОтветитьI think it maybe best to just clean the EGR valve after reading someones comment about a blanking off an EGR valve on a Freelander.
it's probably best to leave the EGR system as manufactured in a direct firing diesel engine. EGR reduces the temperature of combustion ( and hence the NOX pollutants ) by introducing inert (spent) gases into the combustion chamber in carefully measured amounts by the engines computer. When you remove it, you may notice some increase in power or economy due to the increased cylinder heat and hence pressure. This apparent short term increase in performance is why many mechanics recommend the procedure. But this increase in heat and pressure also causes premature failure of the direct firing fuel injectors since the tips of the injectors are directly in the combustion chamber. New injectors cost between $500 - $1000 EACH normally. It will also cause failure of the injector to cylinder head seals - usually a copper washer arrangement - and this results in mixing of coolant into fuel or fuel into engine oil ( or both ). This may entirely destroy your engine due to cross contamination, as well as causing the famous "run away diesel" phenomenon where the diesel revs out of control and blows up despite being turned off - due to it running on it's own fuel soaked engine oil. This is apart from the premature failure of exhaust valves and piston rings and turbochargers due to the abnormally high temperatures. A cynic might conclude that a mechanics real reason for recommending the disabling of the EGR system is the guarantee that he will make $1000's of dollars from the poor sap who does it when the engine goes pop.
Good video George! 👍😎🏴
ОтветитьBefore doing this job get a new crankcase breather tube The old one will be brittle AF and snap when you take it off or put it back on. One of the two hex bolts holding the EGR will be rusted and impossible to remove so you'll need a removal tool or carbide drills. George shows utopia, in reality it's not like that at all.
ОтветитьAnother good video, have you (or could you) do one for your Vauxhall corsa C?
ОтветитьGood video dude, need to do this myself!
ОтветитьWhat happens if you add the oven cleaner without removing the EGR valve?
ОтветитьIs the m47 engine reliable,?
ОтветитьThey are all different in different texts so this barely applies to anyone
ОтветитьReally appriciated it 👌
ОтветитьHello I did a egr cleaning it was so much dirty, but I didnt feel any difference?
ОтветитьAny advice on how to remove the egr value on a n43? 1 series 120i model 🤞🤞
Ответитьit's very easy on this vehicle.
ОтветитьI bet the intake needs cleaning as well bro, I just did both on mine, both were full of carbon. As well as in the cylinder head whilst you at it.
ОтветитьHI THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDÉO NICE JOB, I ‘M LOOKING FOR A X5 F15 TUTORIAL HOW TO REMOVE EGR AND CLEANT IT DOES ANYONE HAS ? THANK YOU
ОтветитьGod i did this 100s of times @ BMW
ОтветитьI used the back of a junior hacksaw blade to wire off the carbon and then mr muscle , finished off with some cheap coca cola and rinsed with water. Came up better than new
ОтветитьNice video! I have the M57 at it seems to be less room to actually get the EGR valve off after loosing the bolts. Any tips greatly appreciated. Cheers
