Which BMW E46 Is the Best To Buy?

I have an e46 330xi same orient Blau.... with a black hood!! someone backed into me in a parking lot

320 owner, I also have a few other cars and ...the 320 has not broken down in over 15 years and still drives like new. Il never sell it and still use it weekends.

They all have subframe issues in Europe, and 328i is faster than 325. Best are 330i and 328i and best of all is ugliest one 325ti which is 325i in compact body which didnt have subframe issues and its lighter but its ugly. So i would go for 325ti and after it 330i and then 328i, sedan is better chassied than coupe, touring is ugly but still stiffer than coupe. If you want mod it for cheqp then 330d is the way you can get 380hp and stupid high tourqe. In eu we didnt have zhp.

I like the Pre-facelift styling the best.

330i is the only way to go and in the M-sport package or ZHP package or don't bother

The best color is Steel Grey. Imola Red is sweet too

I only wish the newer engine had better piston rings because I'm afraid eventually consuming oil is going to clog up my cats,. But I'll just install some O2 foulers I suppose. or try half gallon of lacquer thinner in the gas tank like Scotty Kilmer says to clean em out

All E46s have built in obsolescence. Love them but every 10 years get the credit card out!

Do you guys in America not get the 316i, 318i and 320i plus the 320d, 325d and 330d?🤔

which one would be the one to get if you want the most updated interior but plan on an engine swap?

325i by far is the best it’s simple reliable if taken care of and they have more then enough hp getting mine to 200 is more then enough for me it’s perfectly In the middle

316 is one of the best models of BMW 3 series !!! It's most recommended as 316s are pretty light cars, economical, still reliable and sporty. If you guys want a proper sport car than go for japaneese rather than germans. BMW = comfort. If you are kinda fast and furious than rather go for impreza sti, lancer or civic type r. My 20 yo impreza will destroy any M3 bmw on any surface and in any wether conditions.

Why you didn't mantion most universal models with 2 liter engines? Most of people prefer to get 318 or 320 than 3, 2.8 or 2.3 liters. Majority of us need a reliable car with normal size engine. Who the f..k buy unusual size engines like 2,3 or 2,8? 3 liter engine is good for 5 or 7 series and those are for rich people. 147 hp N46b20 engine is more than enough for 3 series little cars. If u want to buy e46 coupe than the best choice would be 318 or 320. They have better weight balance with 4 cylinder engines. Drives better than inline 6 because its lighter. Driving feels like e36 and you can not say it about 328 or 330

Being a member of the European market I have a 1999 320i. A really comfortable car for its age but even though it only has 150 hp it is still plauged by the subframe issue. Badly cracked left rear mount that I now have to repair. Such a shame on an otherwise nice car

Have 2001 325ci love the car but ita alot of work to keep it perfect. I'm not as handy as you lol. Would rather have had 330ci for speed buy inalso have an n54. Neither one feel fast so I'm happy with my buy

I just came across a 99 328i manual for 1600 but seller lists it needs spark plus an tune up. This would be my daily as I already have a 16 340 manual. Looking for a daily but prefer a suv for winters here in NJ but this seems like a good deal. Thoughts?

Here in Europe I see way more diesels then a petrols, 330d and chiptune I would pick, reason, it feels much faster because of torque, and in gear acceleration is unmatched

The 323/328i make great Turbo builds tho. The M52TU is a beast and way better than the M54. If you get a 328 you can make 520hp with an ebay turbo. And they sound so good with the right exhaust

I have seen a lot of 330i 325i going for scrap at 240k mean while my 323i at everything stock other than radiator is at 330k still going strong no engine light at all

I recently picked up an 03 325i 5 speed, it's now a 1/3 mile dirt track oval race car :)

2001 325i wagon 5spd, no sunroof, no steering wheel controls, no electric seats, nothing extra to break, easy to work on m54, got it from a Dr that seems to only drive it to the dealer to upgrade whatever they could sell him, he just had all suspension replaced for over $6k before selling it to me for $2400 with 112k miles, absolutely love this car.

I own a 328i E46 2000 but personally I think the 330ci is almost simillar to M3 and is the best option to buy.

Good story. I have a 2003 330ci Conv. 87K miles. Always garaged. Always maintained. Feels and runs like it did 19 years ago. I've gone through 2-911's and a c300 sport but still have this as my semi daily driver. My son took it to high school and college as well. 2020 Macan is the other driver. Having problems with the interior wood cracking everywhere but it's 19 years old.

For me either a 328i or a 330 PRE-lci sedan. I wasn't a fan of the new headlights design

Hey Jason, great video as always, and whilst I didn't purchase one of the ones you mentioned - I am after further advice. What would you recommend if I'm after an estate/touring, automatic, petrol BMW? I'm sure they all have their pros and cons, but which ones are most reliable and comfortable. Maybe a 5 series touring? Any particular engines to avoid with the touring groups? Thank!

I HAVE A 325I 2004. IT HAS A PROBLEM ONLY IN THE MORNING WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT DOES NOT MOVE JUST VERY SLOWLY. LET OFF THE GAS AND START OVER IT GOES AWAY. GONE FOR THE REST OF THE DAY. I THINK IT HAS THE GM TRANSMISSION? ANY IDEAS??
