I don't think it will get many awards at all. It is brilliant and helen mirren is fantastic but it is anti woke and won't convey the idea that the religion of peace is marvellous and that they are always poor innocent victims at all .

I just got out of the movie and I normally never write comments on movie trailers but this one hit me so deeply in so many ways that I need to leave a comment here. It was one of the best, if not the best movie I‘ve ever seen. It‘s haunting, it‘s painful, it‘s real, it‘s pure tension and simply genius cinematography. It shows the pure horrors of war, without ever showing a single actual war scene. It‘s all in the sounds, the voices of the soldiers, the peoples pain and in the incredible acting. And there is so much humanity, so much realness, tenderness and hope as well. What we see isn‘t a glorified portrait of an Israeli leader, it is the sad reality of human beings with too much responsibility to shoulder, who have to make an impossible decision and live with the consequences of that for the rest of their life. There is not one moment, where the viewer gets to forget, that those divisions talked about in the war room, are real people and that every single one dying is too much. The crushing fear of the total destruction of Israel is palpable in every moment, just like the pain over having to send young people to die for its security. And in the end fight, in which the IDF wins over the Egyptian army, it is impossible not to imagine the cries of the Egyptian soldiers sounding just like the ones of the Israeli ones. The whole movie made me understand Israeli realities, history and perspectives way better, without it feeling like a propaganda movie, which some might probably fear.
I so wish the end of the movie would have been the end of this conflict. Seeing how much the movie mirrored current politics and knowing people have been dying like this for 50 more years after the Yom Kippur war and are still continuing to, is even harder to stomach, after that movie has managed to give you a glimpse into the reality of war. In the end, what the real Golda Meir said to Sadat at that press conference will probably stay with me forever:
„When asked, many years ago, when I thought that peace would come to this region to our country and to our neighbouring countries - I said: I do not know the date, but I do know under what conditions it will come - when there will be a leader, a great leader of an Arab country. He will wake up one morning and feel sorry for his own people, for his own sons who have fallen in battle, and that day will be the beginning of peace between us.

Mr. President, we have a saying in Hebrew: "zchut rishonim." In English, this means "the privilege of being the first." I congratulate you, Mr. President, that you are privileged to be the first great Arab leader of the greatest country among our neighbours to come to us, with courage and determination, despite so many difficulties, for the sake of your sons, as well as for the sake of our; for the sake of all mothers who mourn sons that fell in battle. No mother should have to give birth to a son in the fear that he may fall in battle. For the sake of all our sons and all our children, not only those who are alive today but also those to be born in future generations - you have come to us and said: let us have peace; let the war of 1973 be the last war between us.“

If anyone is interested, you should read the whole speech, or better even, watch it. It gives great insight into a lot of things about Israel.

You can’t change history. History is there to learn from. If you refuse to learn from it, it would keep repeating itself. Like Isreal & Palestine they refuse to accept what happened in the past. Isreal literally turned Gaza to rubble. They destroyed ALL the universities… the heritage & historical sites. In my country there’s a saying which goes something like… ‘because of ONE mosquito, you burn down the whole mosquito net’… that’s how i would describe Isreal. Besides a really good movie could move people… like this one with hellen mirren it’s very emotional but people watching are like wait a minute… that’s not quite right. If u surf u tube u can see some of the Isreali kids even girls they’re proud & clapping at how many Palestinians they’ve killed… there’s so much hate there, it’s not normal. This movie where Golda is portrayed in positive light is just a bit wrong & misleading & would give negative effects on their future generation. A really2 good one could make Isrealis & palestinians cry & hug like us normal people do when we watch a sad movie or watch sad news.

They should write a disclaimer on this movie…

The movie is full of lies and falsification of history. Watch it. It says in the movie that America did not want to send a bullet to Israel, while Egypt and Syria were fighting an entire American army with Israeli soldiers. Look into the types of phantoms jets, tanks, heavy and light weapons that the Israeli army used in all these wars. They were all Western weapons from America. Now they are denying your favor to them.
