Start at bottom and work upwards that way all the crap is behind you!!!
Ответитьwould a heat gun not have helped?
ОтветитьJust recently found and subscribed to your channel You are an awesome craftsman and I appreciate your content
ОтветитьJust want to say thank you for showing us the process. I'm going to try and do a similar job with my staircase from 120 years ago lol
ОтветитьWhat a lovely job and such a pleasure to see the wood come back after being covered for so long. Thank you for sharing.
Ответитьottimo lavoro
ОтветитьUn peu raide, l’escalier. Mais on n’a pas toujours la place pour faire mieux !
Beau travail !
the finish is outstanding
ОтветитьYou really want to get your scrape on? …. Get some heft on frame.
Ответитьawsome job
ОтветитьRespect ! <3
ОтветитьGreat stuff as usual. All that elbow grease at the start with the scraper! Any reason you didn’t use a belt sander or similar or even a chemical paint stripper to remove all that paint?
ОтветитьI have two of those tacklifter tools and i use them for everything. I'm a mechanic and find myself reaching for that thing for all sorts of different tasks. It really is wonderful.
ОтветитьVery impressive.
Ответитьwhat stain did you use for those treads? Brought them up lovely. And that original monkey tail handrail is stunning next to them stairs 👍🏻 top job mate
ОтветитьGreat work, by the way.
ОтветитьI think removing the old fasteners without messing up the wood is the most challenging. Also, not to be a negative nabob, but also use eye protection as well as breathing protection since that old paint can be leaded.
ОтветитьYou have such a great rhythm to your work and editing to your videos, very relaxing and inspiring and of course the masterful craftsmanship
ОтветитьThe handrail was my absolute favorite. They look so old and authentic. The one on the lower steps as well!
ОтветитьStunning..I've watched so many videos on restoring and finishing wood but I learnt more in this one in 30 minutes than most of the others. As a UK guy it's great to see you using products that I can relate to when many of the videos I've seen are from some great guys from across the pond but using products I've never heard of - again truly amazing stuff and and inspiration to a lot of people!
ОтветитьGood work
ОтветитьThose risers look very high compared to the modern ones
Ответитьstairs were a deathtrap back in the day. Best thing for those is tear out and give it the modern safety treatment.
ОтветитьLove those estwing hammers with the leather handle
ОтветитьJust WOW
ОтветитьBetter veiw to see the camera is too far away
ОтветитьHow much lead was in that paint?
ОтветитьMan of few words and an absolute craftsman! My Victorian stairs are only 135 years old but you have inspired me. Thank you for preserving history.
ОтветитьBeautiful work.
ОтветитьAbsolutely Fabulous!
ОтветитьThe blood, sweat and tears that are engraved in that staircase....undeserving....should be a crime.
ОтветитьI can't wait to see you do the second set of stairs.
ОтветитьA few years ago I scraped the hull of a 40ft narrow boat with one of those bahco scrapers. It was the only tool to work effectively. Took about 10 days. I was truly miserable by the end. Had an arm like Quagmire when I had finished...
ОтветитьReally nice job. Wall colour is absolut stunning
Ответитьlooks like lead paint. Walls dark unattractive color.
ОтветитьGretchen job, very sophisticated.😊
ОтветитьI can't imagine how much it would cost for such a renovation! If you can afford it, I'd certainly recommend it though. Great job!
ОтветитьWhat a job 👏👏
ОтветитьThe first time someone slides down those stairs and breaks something they're getting carpeted.
Ответитьexcellent job!Dear brother, wood dust and chamicals cause lung cancer, please wear face mask to protect yourself。God Jesus Christ love, protect and bless you and all your family!
ОтветитьSome vulgar overuse of tape. I'm so jealous.
ОтветитьI hope that you realize that the paint that your removed is undoubtably full of lead!
ОтветитьMarvellous job! It amazed me.
ОтветитьWhy not use paint stripper?
ОтветитьWhat’s the name of the glue & bonding spray you use?
ОтветитьMeu :Deus que, maravilha que, lindo!!! é uma Arte! ❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.
ОтветитьThere's no end to Alex James' talents! member of blur, cheese maker and now wood worker. Keep it up James!
ОтветитьPreserved a 160-year-old staircase. Gave it a chance to live for another 160 years. No music, no talking, just the sounds of the work. Well done!
Ответить👍👍👍
ОтветитьFantastic job👏👏👏
