The a&e biography gets pulled off this website all the time. But it's the only one spanning his entire career right up until it came out in October of 2000. Everyone can fill in the gaps of the 23 years that followed.

In the "No Direction Home" Documentary, Joan Baez talks about just one time, maybe a day or two, when Dylan just sat at his typewriter and typed page after page of his thoughts or what came to him and this just shows his brilliance, he took all of this and wrote some of the greatest songs in history. Now, I say this because I have my own opinion, but Allen Ginsberg had said something along the lines of Dylan being this Prophet or like a Lightning Rod and it just flowed through him and nobody else. I can agree with some of that, but to me he was writing songs and singing about what was happening at the time and during a time that nobody would dare question the government. Sam Cooke, before he was killed tragically, heard Blowing in the Wind and not in a angry and spiteful way, but in a way of admiration. "This white boy is out there singing songs about the Civil Rights movement, why aren't we?" He hated being called a protest singer because it wasnt about that, it as about just listening and helping to change the wrongs that were happening. I did not have the chance to live in those early days of the 1960's and only found Dylan as a 14 year old pot smoking High School kid while my friends were listening to the DOors and Floyd, etc. But Dylan, to this day i can listen to any one of his songs and it always makes me feel different or as though I hadnt heard a part before. "Only a Pawn in Their Game" was GENIUS...The Beatles would never have wrote and played that. And then in 65 released Highway 61 Revisited and it blew the world away. Gotta love Bob Dylan, he wrote and sang and did what he wnated to, not what he was told to

This is and has been my favorite Musician, Songwriter, person, since I was in High School. You could take only the Music he made in the 1960's and that alone would be enough to be considered one of the most influential Artists of all-time. I mean, I watched the Sam Cooke Documentary on Netflix and there is a part where I am not sure if it was Cooke, but the line was something like "This white boy from Minnesota is doing more for the Civil Rights movement than we are" and taken as just the one sentence most would just say, "um, ok," but it just showed that a white boy, man, etc, was just as determined to get the word out that things had to change and were not going to if you just sat on your ass and did nothing! When I first listened to "The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" I really had no words to describe how powerful and how much emotion came out of every song. When you get into that topic of the greatest songwriters of all time (and I am not going into some of the very Early Bluesmen because they could have their own list and without them, music would not evolve and exist as it does today) you always get the Lennon was, McCartney was, this that. But Dylan...Dylan didnt just sing about love and holding hands, etc. He didnt talk about gettin no satisfaction or paint it black...he wrote and sang about how this was a new generation and that they had the power to affect change, that there were battles right here in the South, the North, the East and West for equality...I am not a Political Theorist and probably already tried to hard. But those of you that are fans of Dylan know what I am saying.

Overall a truly nice video and summary of the Master, Bob Dylan. But one thing annoyed me. The man has light-years of musical compilations, including releases, tours and broadcasts. But for some reason, the video shows the song title "Thunder On The Mountain" endlessly. "I think, we better talk this over . . . ". Yes, "let it be me" to point this out.

Good job Mojo! I know you had to keep it short. In Rolling Stone magazine's top 500 albums of all time, Highway 61 Revisited was #2 and Blonde on Blonde #8. He had several others in there. And in their edition of the top 500 songs of all time, Like a Rolling Stone was #1. And, I am not sure what organization did this in 2000, but Like a Rolling Stone was voted #1 as the most important song, or influential song, of the 20th century. And not to get picky, but Blonde on Blonde just happened to come out about one week after his motorcycle accident. Being a huge fan, I just found this out myself: Blonde on Blonde, (B.O.B.), was the first double album ever.
