Windows 10 / 8 Breaks Your USB MIC!?! Quiet Microphone Problems

2023 and Windows 11 still has this issue.

I just let them choose one on my mics and say " no thanks. i aint got time for that". :)

Ok guys, I have one question. Is it the problem with win 10 or it literally killed the mic so it won't work with any win now? I have this problem, It's not expensive mic or something, I bought a headset so I could do some gaming and live conferences and at first I was very happy. The sound was so good that everyone was asking me which mic I use. And that lasted maybe for a month. Then I was doing a live conference and sounded horrible. Background noise, buzzing, and so on... So, I guess win 10 installed some update that screwed up everything. I repeat, I used it for like a month before this happened, and it was amazing. Will it work again on win 7, or win 10 killed the mic? Thanks...

I have a Samson C01u as well as many of the people complaining. I went into sound settings in Windows 10, then device properties on that mic, and saw the default volume was 57. I turned it up and things are plenty sensitive enough for recording vocals and acoustic guitar at good levels. Maybe it's just an issue for some laptops.

I just bought an AT 2020USB+ and I am really pissed. I have waited so much to make recordings with this microphone... and now I really don t know what to do. Freaking windows 10. I guess I need to buy w7 now...

My issue with my USB mic (Logitech G633) is that, if i do a long scream , after 1-2 seconds of starting it the mic drops the volume by half. This does NOT happens when you talk normally .. Using Equalizaer APO just brings 2 issues:


1.When set to my headset's mic, when i use Audacity for recording, the program says it cannot recognize the device.


2.If you set it to Windows' settings it'll have the same issue with the mic dropping hard

There is a simple fix. Just get a equalizer software.

2018 This is one of the many reasons Microsoft is shit... but so is Apple. They both just want you to keep on upgrading and having to buy new equipment to work with their upgrades.

I guess, because of Windows issues it is better to buy a mic with internal amp and gain knob, there are some good options from FiFine and others.

I had the same problem.... there are 2 choices that you have, switch to a bluetooth headset which although is not perfect is a lot better than a USB set up or dual boot your machine with windows 10 and 7 .... the sad thing is, i sent loads of mic,s back thinking they were faulty,.... i now use a Bluetooth headset from time to time but for the most part i jump to 7 on a dual boot setup.

I just got a new AKG 420 mic and a win10 PC and my mic is very low when i try to record .. whats up with all this , i hate my life atm

unbelievable ..... i have this issue ... i have a zoom h1n and it "ment" to work as a usb mic ...... it wont .... windows sees it but picks up nothing now i know why ..... and yes its still not fixed obviouly.

I need help, i got a at 2035 with a ux2 (audio interface) and i got it to work the time. But i was so stupid, that i changed the channels from the mic quality to something else in the recording devices. Which it send me a thing where if you "change it, it'll also make your mic won't work, which i did and after that it didn't work. I also tried to restore defaults,etc. But nothing has worked. Could you help me?
