I remember watching one of his videos and suddenly doing -1.7db cuts seemed pointless. Crank it
ОтветитьLOve watching CLA best videos i have found. So clear and really just love watching him work. So much fun to work with good musos properly tuned gear. Such great and loaded with knowledge videos!!!!!! subbed!!
ОтветитьDamn .. CLA is a beast .. kick and snare after 2 mins… jesus christ!!
Ответить“Here’s what sounds good to me”. End of lesson
ОтветитьMothafucka knows what he’s doing
ОтветитьThis is an extremely useful and informative video but they forgot to mention the most crucial aspect of this recording: having a fucking good drummer! This dude knows exactly how to hit properly
ОтветитьAmazing work. I love Analog system but after using both, I Préfère the Digital because all these EQ and Processor laying around the walls have been extracted in Plug-in softwares.
The advantages are:
(1) No more need to walking around to reach for EQ or Compressor…
(2) Cut on electricity cost consumed by all these devices.
(3) If one device break you are done until it’s repaired. Yet The digital one just need a reinstall if for some reason system Crashes
(4) The digital can get an auto or manually digital update. Yet the physical will require an hardware replacement.
(5) Analog will require approximate cooling systems and extra space. Digital only need a computer.
(6) Analog often require more operator yet Digital only requires one.
(7) Risk of accidentally touch a button or rubbing against a knob…
The only Advantage about analog over digital is just that nothing’s hidden behind menu. Everything is laid out and available for touch
Otherwise they all gives you the same sound. All depends on the engineer skill
The drummer looks like a young CLA very fitting LOL.
ОтветитьGreat player, amazing kit (selected and tuned by the LA drum doctor), amazing mics and gear, and one of the best mix engineers alive. Lovely!
ОтветитьCLA always reminds me to just trust the sound and not be scared to turn some damn knobs.
ОтветитьSee? All you need is 240 knobs to play with 😊
ОтветитьThe kick is centered in the overheads but the snare seems to be quite a bit off to the right. The tone of the overheads is sublime though.
ОтветитьCouldn't believe how much impact and raw energy it had by the end of the mix (tracking mix) .
One of the best ever demonstrations I've found of an analog mixing process using outboard gear and a proper mixing console.
I enjoy using the software emulations of popular analog gear. Particularly Scheps 73 (Waves Neve 1073 emul), Softube CL1B, CLA 76 and the Waves SSL E-Channel. But they don't have the same effectiveness and oomph that a hardware unit could provide. But with my current budget they've still served me very well, as I don't have the thousands of dollars to afford the real thing, as i'm still a student.
CLA's a legend at his craft and a great teacher too. Not to mention the talent of the badass drummer too :)
Great video guys! I can't wait to get enough in-studio experience to even try to get close to his level of talent.
Thanks I like your choices. Great punchy and natural sound. Great musician too.
ОтветитьRandy Quaid killing it on the drums!!!!!
ОтветитьNice altoid cans.
ОтветитьHe records with a Neve.... interesting...
ОтветитьGood tuning doesn't hurt either
ОтветитьGenius at it best!
ОтветитьThe way he touch the knobs.. Its so impressive
ОтветитьI didn’t realize Chris has the ability to record at his studio. I believe his brother doesn’t do that . One thing Iv noticed recently is Chris’ mixes sounder/have bigger bottom end than toms. I never noticed this before . Toms great too but I just really like the bigness and aggression Chris goes for . Toms mixes are a bit softer/smoother
ОтветитьI love these Chanell! <3
ОтветитьFor tracking drums you can't beat the Neve console
Ответитьfor an ssl guy , he s pretty confortable with the neve console
ОтветитьGood drummer? OMG!!!
ОтветитьI think you need to get some of these rappers to explain who the hell you are, cause some of the students just ain't listening.
ОтветитьBeautiful but I can't afford to escape the Box. One day when I earn enough, smiling.
ОтветитьThis guy I have up running on my studio speakers while mixing my own productions...A/B comparison....thank you! Mixing with the masters!
ОтветитьNo wonder the live sound on a lot of bands sounds like shit and nothing like the studio sound.
ОтветитьHis pots are meking noise or it's just me?
Ответить3ms attack on drums? I dont think I'll ever understand that. Can someone expllain pls? How can you add all that low to a kick and than just use fast attack to kill all that life?
ОтветитьI wanna know what mics did he use in this video
Ответитьso when hes cutting on the console EQ is he trying to rid the bleed? or is it a mixture of that and adjusting the tone? Either way I love how big the room mic makes the drums sound paired with the fairchild !
ОтветитьChris is the goat of mixing, everything he touches is gold.
ОтветитьThank you for including the written description in the video for us novices🙏
ОтветитьYou can always tell when a drummer is getting bored in the studio…that’s when the ridiculous, 2 bar fills come out lol
ОтветитьI felt like there was a rerverb there
Ответитьwhat drumkit is he using??
Ответить"I have a Fairchild, and it kicks ass. So why not use it?" LoL Well said.
Great tutorial! Every engineer can do this and get great drums.
Chris is hilarious, I remember once he said “we can turn it all the way up, nobody’s going to die”
ОтветитьOnly a master can make a loud drummer sound good!
Ответитьvery funny, it record and fix it later, no time to vaste
ОтветитьPultec for the overheads 😱.....pure gold.
ОтветитьI can't believe I didn't know about this channel before! Crickey! Absolutely amazing 👌🏿👌🏿
Watching from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤❤️
