Hey man ! i really like the ione where you extend both arms to enter striking range without getting countered . I`m an undefeated amateur MMA fighter and what i oftern struggle with even thought i consider myself a somewhat good striker is getting in range and this has done wonders for me ! i utilise it alot now and it even gets me going with some good combos and entering/ closing distance easily . I'd love to see more of it real times or more techniques involving this one ! Thank you so much
ОтветитьYou’re such a great coach
ОтветитьOsss!
ОтветитьDO NOT DO THIS! I did this years ago to my sparring partner and my knee is gone forever. You can condition your shins but not your knees.
ОтветитьNotes:
1. Move head off center line, with hand protecting the side of the head when entering the pocket
2. Single low kick with guard up, instead of full rotation with arm swing
3. Thai hop + long guard: to enter the pocket to throw combos or clinch (beware of uppercut)
4. Lead leg roundkick: kick with head leaned back, retract to same position, NOT stomping forward
Nice video, needed this, is there a follow up one to land more combinations
ОтветитьGreat tips!
ОтветитьHey Gabriel. Would you consider doing a vid for experienced people who want to spar with minimal head contact? I've been training a long time, and at this point I want to receive effectively zero additional head trauma while still getting some version of sparring in.
ОтветитьGreat
ОтветитьMy help is that I’ve got experience in sparring for years I can throw everything it’s been 13 years
I’m starting to fight in amateurs and I would freeze and my body would feel light I don’t understand why.
Any fighters in the ring with advice on that
I like those combo at the end. If you don't already have one, I'd be interested in seeing a video about combos that work irl
ОтветитьI once had a (retired fighting) coach who when I asked him about a specific novel technique chuckled yes giving away my secrets … Gabriel is like that prioritising teaching over keeping his secrets what a legend. I’d love to see a crossover with Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu, I think that’d work awesome. She’s very focused on building a library of Muay Thai techniques from all the great fighters and could bring those perspectives. Anyway loving Gabriel’s stuff legend
ОтветитьGabriel I started watching your videos in preparation for my MMA amateur debut a few months ago. With the help of your videos I was able to secure a win last night 🤙🏻
Thank you. Cheers
can you give us tips abbout emmotion controll?
i am usually very protective and trying my best to not get hitted, but once someone hits me and it hurts i go berserk, not caring about demage i take and only focus on striking
I’m a bigger guy and I find disguising moves helps a lot. Using feints and the jab to smother the guard and hide things (especially kicks) helps a lot. I also use the jab into a switch kick which has been landing great for me lately against smaller faster guys in my gym.
Feints jab to lead hook, feint a rear round kick to theep.
And just getting used to being hit a bit helps also. Using it as a way to motivate you rather then getting hit and covering up/shying away.
Yet another fantastic video from one of the best!
ОтветитьLiterally my biggest frustration with sparring this week. He's in my walls.
ОтветитьThank you so much. This is helpful. I am a bit gun shy still, so will try these out
ОтветитьPerfect. I'm gonna try this out today in class.
Ответитьwhat brand of shorts are you wearing in this video?
ate they comfortable to kick in?
thanks
Wow, these ways for attacking are just so awesome Gabriel even tho I am not gun shy when sparring anymore these ways for attack were pretty useful, the shuffle step low kick is the way I like the most from this video and will be trying to add to my arsenal of techniques but overall an amazing video keep up the great work as always!
ОтветитьDang Gabe, telling me to just grow a pair is not helpful...
ОтветитьI feel like BKFC gloves are a bit ironic hahaha
Ответитьmy problem isn't even the fear of getting countered. I'm a very kind person and I get worried a lot for people getting hurt, so everytime I see an opening I pull my strikes, and even trying to I just can't do techniques with speed and power (not a lot, just enough for proper technique). this means that I'm constantly shelling up and hitting people like they are made of paper. even on occasions where I took a lot more punishing than I was giving I just couldn't respond in intensity, I just... fear hurting people lol. which is pretty stupid considering they are a lot stronger and better trained than me. it's just that deep emotional lock of being unable of dealing damage to people, even if it is in a controlled way and aiming to improve them. I fear this makes me a fun sparring partner but terrible if you are trying to improve. I hope I could challenge people more and put more power in my strikes, but I'm still working on it. eventually I think I'll get used to it and be able to adjust my intensity, and to just trust my partners more
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьCan you please make a video about the technique of Donovan Wisse

ОтветитьCan you please do a collab with jeff chan. You guys have completely opposite styles. Technical spar. Share ideologies. Critque each others style. Share how you would solve the puzzle of his evasive unorthodox style. And see how he would go about dealing with your unrelenting pressure style with near zero openings. I have no idea what a spar between you two would even look like. Almost seems paradoxical.
Ответитьi really love ur videos very helpfull
ОтветитьGun-shy in sparring? Heck, you cannot even get me into the ring! :)
ОтветитьUseful and interesting as always
ОтветитьDoes these techniques apply to southpaws?
