Don't try to sugarcoat the matter. This is an aid to murder. This person is depressed and you helped kill him.

I understand how this can seem peaceful, but I also see why it is illegal still in most places. Personally, I see it as a duty to live every ounce of my life to it's fullest. This man was in a good state of mind and not terminally ill. Think of the stories he'll never get to tell or the great grandchildren he might have missed out on. You have an influence on those around you and when you are no longer there, they miss out as a result. Who knows, he could have lived another ten years and broken some age record.

i'm happy this man was able to get what he wanted. i'm glad he was able to go peacefully and on his own terms. Mad props to the famly aswell, who, instead of trying to stand in his way, stood by his side till the very end and even helped him. This is how i want to go, peacefully, surrounded by my loved ones, and on my own terms by my own hand. i hope that one day, we can reach a time where this option is available to everyone, and that those people who choose this way out, no matter the reason, will have the love and support of thier family's till the very end.

I'm sorry, I do believe in assisted suicide. This wonderful old man was not in any pain, did not have any illness, he'd just had enough, When so many people are out there dying who don't want to, I can't agree with this. It is why some countries refuse to have right to die with dignity laws. It would indeed lead to that slippery slope of when is it not okay?

I will never take euthanasia, no matter what, but especially if I am in his situation. This man was able to eat, drink, sleep, talk to people, listen, laugh, see and hear and appreciate beautiful things, and ended all the joys of life and living so he could no longer exist and know anything at all. This is a very foolish thing to do. Furthermore, he does not seem to miss his family nor does his family miss or care about him. You could argue that this man does not like to be dependant on people, but being able to be dependant on people and family is part of being human and gives an opportunity for your family to love you and give you what you deserve for having served them all of your life. Old people and those who suffer have many ways of serving society and of enjoying their lives, especially by imparting their wisdom and just being their to give others company, strength and encouragement. There is no need to take euthanasia. It is just plain stupidity and absurdity.

I’m sorry but at no age should it be acceptable to end your life if you are not terminally ill or in excruciating pain & debilitated.
Ending your life because you are over living it, is just a selfish decision.

His shirt has written:"Ageing disgracefully.". This says it all, really. We need to end this myth of "ageing gracefully". By definition ,ageing is the loss of grace, of health and vitality. Ageing "gracefully" is an absolute oxymoron. You are either healthy or you are not, and ageing in it's essence means the loss of health. If you are an extremely "healthy" 100 year-old, all it means is that you might be looking and feeling as "good" as the averager 80 year-old. But guess what? The average 80 year-old looks and feels like shit. Even if you are the "healthiest" 100 year-old ever that has aged the most "gracefully" ever, you will still feel pain in your joints all day long, you will be partially blind and/or deaf in one of both eyes/ears, and you will have difficulty walking 30 feet to the kitchen without something to hold on to, and will get winded from it. Ageing is awful .

I don’t see this as sad at all. A man had a very long happy life..and he ended it peacefully on his own terms. Most of us would be lucky to have such an end, surrounded by family and in control of our own minds.

I wish this could be for young people as well, for my parents to be ok with it, my friends and coworkers as well. Throw a big party for us for making the choice to willingly be gone and just be happy about it. This is not your fault this is just my decision.

there was nothing wrong with this guy, apparently, apart from a bit of wear and tear that comes with age, he was just old and tired and couldn't be bothered anymore, but what about his family and loved ones, what sort of message does that send to them? was there any thought for them? that they might actually like him to stick about a bit longer??? it does come off looking a bit selfish.

Assisted suicide is murder. If someone is sick they should fight until the last moment, not give up just like that. You think Jesus wanted assisted suicide for all the pain caused? No! He fought until the last moment.

The well-to-do are taken care of, on their own initiative, no matter what state they live in. Also, to be sure, today's hospice and palliative care, in terms of pain management, is generally very good, I would imagine, in every state. Still, states like Texas are backwards, imo.

I'm for my state having laws like these, laws about basic human decency. I'm not talking about "coercion." I'm talking about the patient and the family awareness, and basic human decency, which we do not have in my "religion." Let them say what they will. In the cases I'm referring to, we are talking about SADISM, not "right to life." They need to examine their consciences better.

No matter how you word it. It’s still killing someone. No different then shooting another person in the head nothing beautiful about ending yourself before your natural time. If hanging yourself is tragic then so taking simple out like an old dog is.

This is a beautiful step. People who do not want to live should not be forced to live by the temptation of life with words of solution. There should be a right to die just as there is a right to live. Then at least people can die in peace. Death usually means pain. This kind of process will turn death into peace. So I think this system is the call of the times.
